This is exactly what we are doing here at SWEET PROGRESS With the right kind of help, we can take what we have created already and multiply it ten fold every month. This truly is the most dynamic system with the opportunity and scalability to revolutionize the lives of the rural population at a speed never seen before. Sweet Progress is a fully self sustaining US 501(c) (3) charity which was created to help empower individuals in Nicaragua to improve the quality of their lives, their children’s lives and the lives of the greater community. Through the creation of a fully managed honey producing eco system, SWEET PROGRESS is able to dynamically grow an enterprise, that will create opportunity and jobs through out Nicaragua. With your help we can take what we have created already and multiply it ten fold every month. This truly is the most dynamic system with the opportunity and scalability to revolutionize the lives of thousands at a speed never seen before. This type of project has been in place in many countries in Africa for years, but to my knowledge has never reached a point of success. The reason behind this, the honey has never been looked at as a business. I have taken a different approach from the beginning and have invested my personal funds, 360,000 USD since 2013, as start up costs so that the women and teenagers of Sweet Progress receive consistent income from their micro-business of bee keeping. I continue to inject $8,000 per month from my professional chef work on yachts (kind of like cooking for the rich and giving to the poor) to help sustain Sweet Progress’s work. This unfortunately does not create sustainability. To create the magic of sustainability we have set into place an order of events that will introduce the honey to the global market. How to start an economy where there was once nothing. An economy, that stimulates other individuals to create business around beekeeping. An environment that will allow future entrepreneurs to work as a team to produce and sell the byproducts from the bee colonies. Beekeeping will create an additional 30 to 80 jobs within each community that participate. Some examples of business that will evolve: A group of women will be trained as carpenters to manufacture beehives, dry toilets known as eco-banos. As well as lead a new project with the Handicap and Teenagers-at-risk to utilize cardboard as a sources of building material for desks, tables, and chairs Seamstress will be trained to fabricate the veils and bee uniforms necessary for the beekeepers. They will also be taught to knit, weave and to preform repairs to start a business in their communities Another group of women {Eco-Sanadoras} with be trained in Sanitation and Eco-baños to develop and run a compost center within the community. This group will team with the carpenter cooperative to create dry toilets and composting units for the existing households. These units are ultra-low-cost toilets, designed around removable containers that make it easy to collect and transport waste safely within the community. This cooperative will be turning the communities Eco-Bono or Humanure into fertilizer comprised of the Human waste and a variety of other organic materials. The fertilizer will be packaged and the Eco-Sanadoras will then sell the fertilizer back to the local to nourish the agricultural bio-organic gardening program, as well as sell to two large US expat communities in Granada and Leon that have shown interest in purchasing organic fertilizer at a good price. Additional industries arise from the production of honey byproducts and wax production, including the following Hello there! Do you have a question about Sweet Progress?
