A third-generation leader and grandson of founder Carl Suddath, Steve grew up in the moving and storage business, developing a hands-on understanding of our industry. This experience gives him a deeper and more personal perspective in his role as Chairman, where he provides guidance to the company’s officers and executives and strategic direction to our company as a whole. business units and branch offices to enhance the quality of service provided to our customers while ensuring growth and profitability. Barry’s position as Vice Chairman is the latest in a leadership path that started in 1974 and continued through a pivotal term as the company’s CEO. Today, Barry works alongside Steve Suddath to provide strategic direction to the organization and guide its ongoing legacy. Under Barry’s leadership the company saw its boldest period of growth and transformation. Between 2003 and 2015, when he served as CEO, we accelerated to the forefront of many industry advancements, including testing and implementing alternative methods of transportation, deploying paperless technologies and growing a uniquely specialized and accomplished military and government business. Barry also built one of the most enviable leadership teams in the industry. Along with his other leadership responsibilities, Barry serves on the UniGroup and AMSA boards of directors and represents Suddath in domestic and international trade associations including FIDI and OMNI. He continues to oversee Suddath ownership interests in Victoria National and mentors executives both within our company and in the industry. Jim’s no-nonsense style, insightful nature and uncompromising personal integrity are leadership qualities he brings to his position as Treasurer, where he remains actively involved in fiduciary management of the organization. This position is the latest in a series of leadership roles that also include 13 years as the company’s Chief Financial Officer, during which he oversaw internal and external reporting, long-range planning, corporate and strategic development, treasury, retirement plan administration and forecasting.
