Stevenson Farms is nestled in Alliston’s quiet countryside. Enjoy over 180 years of local history. This unique estate formerly owned by T.P. Loblaw offers historically appointed guest rooms, a heritage banquet hall, private movie theatre and a relaxing full service spa, Harvest Spa. Susanne trained in fashion design and esthetics, and in addition to raising two children, also oversees the day to day operations of Stevenson Farms B&B and Harvest Spa. Stephen operates an independent video business, WSM Productions, and works as a freelancer directing various television shows for the Home and Garden Channel. Stevenson Farms & Harvest Spa Owner Stephen graduated in 1992 from York University with his bachelor degree in Fine Arts, and majored in his passion, film and photography. In 1994, he formed the sole proprietor business WSM Productions and turned his attention to documentaries. He began working overseas for several German broadcasters and development organizations where he produced, shot, and edited dozens of documentaries and news reports concerning social and environmental issues in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America. Back in Canada, Stephen then produced the Splat! Television series in conjunction with animation power house Topix/Maddog. During a three year stint with CBC’s Arts & Entertainment divison, he helped shoot and direct hundreds of youth focused comedy segments from across the country. In addition to producing dozens of corporate video productions, Stephen has also been directing lifestyle television shows on the Home & Garden and W Networks such as “Property Virgins”, “Dirty Business”, “Sarah 101”, “Candice Tells All”, “Property Brothers”, “Decked Out”, “Disaster Decks” and “Custom Built”. In his spare time, Stephen loves to grab his old camera and fulfill his passion for black and white photography. Stephen also works as your B&B host, handyman and muffin maker extraordinaire. Stevenson Farms & Harvest Spa Owner/Esthetician Susanne graduated from George Brown College in 1996 with a fashion design diploma and moved into Stevenson Farms with Stephen Milne in 1997. Together, they took three years to renovate the property before turning it into a 2 room B&B in September 2000. Since then they have grown the business to offer 6 overnight guest rooms, a private apartment, banquet facility, 30 seat movie theatre, and most recently a full service spa. Susanne studied and trained at the Canadian Beauty College in Barrie, ON in 2014 and is certified to preform all the spa services offered at Harvest Spa. Susanne is very detail orientated and makes customer satisfaction her highest priority. Whether it is decorating for a changing season, serving breakfast, putting final touches in your room, or pampering you in the spa, Susanne pours her love into every aspect of the business to ensure you feel relaxed, welcome and want to return. Whether you are calling to make a reservation, checking in, or planning your next milestone event you can trust Julia to make sure everything is covered and runs smoothly. Julia is super organised and brings a wealth of knowledge to Stevenson Farms from her years of experience working in the hospitality and tourism industry. Julia is a wonderful addition to the Stevenson Farms team, her enthusiasm, team leadership skills and attention to detail are valued by all our staff. We are excited about all the recent new improvements Julia has brought to Stevenson Farms. She is bursting with many more great ideas to help make Stevenson Farms bigger and better and we look forward to implementing these ideas and having her plan some future events at Stevenson Farms! Wanda is a former native of Newfoundland and knows what it means to work hard! Wanda is hard working, detail orientated, and dependable. In addition to cleaning our guest rooms, she also helps with keeping order to other areas of the house, including assisting with breakfast prep/clean up, and helping us with large and small events. Wanda also works behind the scenes to help battle the mountains of B&B and spa laundry created on a weekly basis. Our guests get to enjoy fresh fluffy towels and crisply ironed sheets thanks to Wanda. We are very fortunate to have a great team of staff at Stevenson Farms and Harvest Spa. They all play an integral part in making sure your stay is a pleasant one. It is not as common in B&B’s as it is in larger hotels for guests to show their appreciation to the staff by tipping, but managing a historical home of this size takes a lot of hard work. Welcome to Stevenson Farms and Harvest Spa! History of Stevenson Farms In 1832, William Stevenson and his young wife Elizabeth Pringle settled on these lands having come from Edinburgh, Scotland the same year. Their original log home was replaced in 1850 by a 12 room frame house which was was later renovated in 1927 by their illustrious grandson, Theodore Loblaw; the founder of the Loblaw grocery chain. Stevenson Farms became a seasonal family retreat for Loblaw and boasted some of the finest amenities of the area including over 16 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, 3 sun porches, and large wood paneled billiard and banquet halls. The original Stevenson Farms also boasted one of the area’s first golf and country clubs, and had tennis courts as well. T.P Loblaw also gifted the Alliston community by building the local hospital, Stevenson Memorial, and by assisting with funding for the Welcome to Stevenson Farms and Harvest Spa! The Ontario Heritage Trust, the Simcoe County Historical Association, Stevenson Farms, and the Essa Historical Society attended the unveiling of a provincial plaque commemorating Theodore P. Loblaw.
