ABOUT US - STEVEN SHELL FURNITURE For over 18 years, we have specialized in the design, production and supply of quality eclectic furniture and accessories. Our founder Steven Shell has over 25 years experience within the furniture industry and has been responsible for the product and concept design which gives our furniture the uniqueness and desirability that is proving so successful. We now ship to 22 countries with 750 plus items going into homes each week. We have 4700 square feet of permanent display space in High Point, North Carolina, US and participate in the British Interior Show each year. Our business philosophy is simple: The design of our furnishings comes from an honest place that has meaning to our founder Steven Shell. He draws these influences from everyday inspirations around him. With many favorite influences coming from his global travels throughout Europe and the East as well as parts of London such as Shoreditch and Brick Lane. Other influences come from period design of 40’s Hollywood, 50’s Americana, 50’s Côte d’Azur, Victorian and Gothic. When creating our handcrafted furniture, our master craftsmen go to work using techniques that have been handed down for generations. These techniques give a handmade feel which in other companies have often been replaced with easier methods of production. Thereby, losing the handcrafted look that has become part of our signature. At our wholly-owned production facility in Indonesia, which covers 20 acres, we employ over 1000 master craftsmen, woodworkers, artists, finishers, millers and support staff. Each year we ship over 100,000 items of quality handcrafted furniture and accessories to customers. Our master craftsmen use techniques that have been handed down for generations. These techniques produce a handmade feel unlike much furniture on the market today. A LETTER FROM STEVEN SHELL Inspiration surrounds us—art, music, literature, architecture, design and nature—all have a unique voice, speaking to each of us in different ways. This belief sits at the heart of my philosophy of influence driven design. Whether it is the most intense blue of the sky on a crystal clear day or a mystical bird interpreted by a 1930’s textile designer, my influences are limitless. I stay open to the infinite possibilities so that I may share my take on them with you. As a London-born antique dealer, I’ve traded antiques in Eastern Europe, America, Great Britain and Spain. I’ve travelled around the world finding curios for the past 25 years, getting to know all manners of the weird and wonderful. Fortunately, my passion for furniture was allowed to develop further, and for the last 18 of those years, I’ve been taking my inspirations and interpreting them into furniture designs for Steven Shell Furniture. Now available in 22 countries, our handcrafted furnishings are created by master artisans in Indonesia. We are one of the largest hand painted furniture manufacturer in the world; our factory covers over 7 hectares of land. The majority of our furniture is constructed mainly from Indonesian mahogany. With over 750 items going into homes each week, we believe in replenishing what we use and have a replanting program in place insuring trees are planted in excess of what we use. These techniques produce a hand crafted feel unlike much furniture on the market today. The Nature of Our Product: Each item from the “Steven Shell Collection” is hand-made from start to finish. Many traditional “Old World” methods are used in the construction of these unique accent pieces. The individual workmanship may cause slight differences in measurements and finish. The wood product constantly responds to its environment, therefore, the furniture has a subtle distressed look. Some splitting, cracking, chipping and glazing may occur. We, and the vast majority of our customers, think the imperfect nature of the wood and finishing methods create an antique but spirited look that is part of the charm and appeal of the product. Please be aware that these blemishes and imperfections are non-structural in nature and are to be expected. LESS THAN CONTAINER: Orders under $2000 are prepay; orders above $2000 are eligible for NET 30, upon prior approval by The Steven Shell Collection. All new customers are required to pay a 10% non-refundable deposit. All existing NET accounts must order above $2000 in order for that order to qualify for NET 30. PRODUCT AND SHIPPING PRIOR TO DELVERY. Note, a $2500 deposit is required for first time orders. All payments for freight charges are expected in advance prior to delivery. The product is packed in cartons and shipped with a furniture carrier. The Steven Shell Collection ships from Stoneville NC and Mira Loma CA. Freight Charges are non-refundable. Estimated freight charges are based on rates provided by the freight co. Freight for container shipments may be approved for NET 30 through our freight forwarder. Our freight forwarding company processes the freight credit application independently of us. If not approved for NET 30, the freight company will require payment in full prior to delivery.
