STERITOOL INC., JACKSONVILLE

An austenitic stainless steel with a minimum of 18% chromium, 8% nickel, and a maximum of .08% carbon. It is non-magnetic and cannot be hardened by heat treatment. Corrosion and oxidation resistance is provided by the chromium content. The alloy's metallurgical characteristics are established primarily by the nickel content which also extends resistance to corrosion caused by chemicals. Because of its ability to withstand the corrosive action of various acids found in fruits, meats, and vegetables, 304 is widely used for sinks, tabletops, refrigerators, cooking appliances, pots, pans, and flatware. We typically limit the use of 316 to the production of handles and square drive collars for our line of non-magnetic tools. is a martensitic alloy similar to to 405 but with a higher carbon content and no aluminum. It is this increase in carbon and absence of aluminum that improve the mechanical properties and strength of 410 by making it a hardenable steel similar to regular carbon and alloy steels. Steritool specializes in the manufacture of professional quality stainless steel hand tools designed for use in sterile, Cleanroom, corrosive, radioactive and other critical environments. Our hand tools are fully autoclaveable and offer an unsurpassed level of corrosion resistance. Since 1993 Steritool has been the leader in providing the pharmaceutical industry with tools that help pharmaceutical companies in production and research & development facilities. Our mission began simply, and has remained so today: simple design for widespread applications. Our hex keys, wrenches, screwdrivers, and our wide range of other products combine first principles with modern technology: proven design with the latest advances in corrosion resistant stainless steel. Our are made from Custom 465 stainless, a proprietary alloy recently developed for aerospace applications by Carpenter Technologies. Hardened to Rockwell C 54, this alloy combines high strength with high torque capability and meets the strict requirements for corrosion resistance required for maintenance of production machinery within the pharmaceutical industry. Steritool stainless steel tools can be autoclaved through thousands of cycles Because we are a hands on manufacturer and distribute directly from our plant, we are able to work closely with pharmaceutical production, maintenance, and quality control personnel to meet their requirements. We are continually supplementing our line of tools with new and custom products. Our capacity to adapt to meet a specific requirement is often the solution to precision applications on the production line where flexibility is not an option. At what point in the manufacturing of FDA-regulated products would you use the same equipment that your auto mechanic would use on your car? A significant risk of process contamination is introduced with the deterioration of the chrome plating commonly used on ordinary industrial hand tools. The application of an electroplated surface coating is intended to provide carbon steel tools with some level of corrosion resistance by acting as a barrier between the free iron on the tool surface and the environment, and thus reduce the level of oxidation. But although it is possible to effectively sterilize a chrome-plated carbon steel tool before use in Cleanrooms, each successive autoclave cycle acts to deteriorate the plating, causing it to chip, flake, and peel. Once the chrome plating is degraded, contamination can result not only from the airborne particles of the plating itself, but also from the oxidation of the exposed iron of the tool. Stainless steel hand tools have no plating; their corrosion resistance is a property of the chromium contained within the alloy. Replacing carbon steel tools with stainless steel tools eliminates this risk and should be considered a standard operating procedure for any modern facility. designed for use in critical production, sterile, cleanroom, or corrosive environments. Our tools are designed and manufactured in full compliance with the established standards of ISO 9001: 2008. All Steritool products meet or exceed ISO, ANSI, SAE, DIN, and British Standard specification.
