State of the Nonprofit Community Conference , Multiplying Talents International was formed by Aretha Simons, a Navy Veteran who started her own nonprofit, but later shifted into helping individuals start nonprofits. Aretha realized that grassroots nonprofit entrepreneurs could use the knowledge and experience that made her nonprofit successful. The idea was simple: provide workshops and seminars to teach grant writing and how to setup a nonprofit corporation. By the year 2003, Aretha realized she had given away Multiplyingtalents.com began offering a Certified Nonprofit Consultants course to teach others how to help the nonprofit community. The Certified Nonprofit Consultant’s would offer free consultations so that nonprofit organizations could become qualified 501(c)(3) organizations throughout the United States. Approximately 100 new nonprofits were formed in 2009 as a result of this. , Aretha’s business surpassed 500 clients, over 5,000 workshop attendees, and she continues to speak nationwide for companies like SCORE, US Department of Labor, Bishop TD Jakes International Pastors & Leaders Conference, to name a few. The nonprofit sector is a prominent force in terms of revenue generated for the United States’ economy. But there are still problems that need to be addressed. National surveys shows there are still economical disadvantages for certain communities, yet grassroots nonprofit organizations are increasing on a daily basis. However, nonprofits need funding, training, tools, consulting, strategic planning, and much more to help their communities. The demand is great, in response, we started Aretha’s over fifteen-year history of service to nonprofits, relationship building, and company growth put her in a unique position to provide useful solutions to the nonprofit sector. However, Aretha realized she couldn’t do this alone, she wanted to practice what she preached, and “Multiply” her talents by allowing others to showcase their services for (the way she started out) and provide solutions to help our growing nonprofit community.
