I was born and raised on the island of Islamorada in the Florida Keys. I have had a passion for gaming from the first time I held a Sega Master System controller in my hand and my world was changed by “Alex Kid in Miracle World.” I graduated from Coral Shores High School in 2000 and decided that I wanted to move to Orlando for college. I became employed by EB Games while attending UCF. The EB games was located right across the street from UCF and we had a very diverse customer base. This trained me to be versatile when helping customers with what ever questions they had. I got to see the retail side of the Game Industry and an understanding of the importance of product placement within a store. After over three years of working at what is now a Gamestop, I left Orlando to move back home for a job opportunity. I started my own excavation business and was subcontracted out by Freewheeler Construction to trench for the sewer lines that run from a house to connection in the street. After a couple of months I was plumbing the homeowners sewer line too. This was another eye opening experience and was some of the hardest work I have ever done. I really liked this job and wanted it to become a career. But unfortunately I had to shut down my company after two years because of extreme underbidding. So now I was at a crossroad of what to do with my life. My parents changed my life once before by buying me that Sega Master System and they did it again by suggesting that I go back to school. But this time to pick a degree that I was passionate about, like gaming. I remembered that there was a college down the street from where I lived in Orlando that specialized in music, gaming, and other forms of entertainment. The college was Full Sail. What we are about Square Grouper Games is a start up game development company that was started when I graduated from Full Sail University in 2015. I knew that once I was out of college that I wanted to have my own Indie Game company. In the beginning we would like to hone our craft of making assets and putting them up for free in the Unity asset store. As company it is important to establish oneself in the marketplace and this is the most important goal I have right now for Square Grouper Games. The long term goal would be to have assets that are sold in an online marketplace fund the projects that we would eventually like to develop. As a company we have been continuing to grow in our services. Along with being a game company we also specialize in website design. We would like to change the view of what game developers have become. We want to tackle the projects that others do not want to tackle. We want our customers to get the best quality assets for an affordable price or even free. Square Grouper Games encourages students that need assistance with the game engines to contact our staff.
