Second Row: Kristin, Russellito, Iris, Russell, Allen, and Trish Sowers, Brandy and Rachel Reyes Allen and Trish Sowers came to Honduras in 2001, to work as short term missionaries – but they never left! They have six children, ranging in age from 13 to 27 years, a Honduran son-in-law and daughter-in-law, and a half-Honduran grandson! They believe that God has placed them In Honduras to be a blessing and a resource to the Honduran Christians who are going about the work of evangelism in this part of Honduras. Throughout the various ways they minister to them, they strive to help the pastors be more effective in this work, and in the related works of planting churches and discipling new believers. Their primary goal is to assist and equip the Honduran pastors who are evangelizing the mountain people of western Honduras, planting churches and discipling the new believers. Secondarily, they assist, when possible, with the serious poverty-related problems in Honduras – including helping construct infrastructure and supplying and overseeing over 100 feeding centers. Russell and Iris Iris, Russell Jr., and Russell Russell and Iris Sowers with their young son, Russell Jr, live and work as missionaries in Western Honduras, with The Foundation for Missions. As the son of Allen and Trish Sowers (also missionaries with Foundation For Missions) Russell has been living in Honduras since he was 11 years old. In 2008 he became a missionary himself, and in 2010 he married Iris. Iris is Honduran and has always lived in the area where they now minister together. Russell and Iris work in partnership with Russell’s parents. With their unique abilities, being fluent in the local language and feeling at home in the culture, they have added a deeper dimension to their joint ministry efforts. Made 4 Missions Rachel Sowers Reyes grew up in Honduras where her parents, Allen and Trish Sowers, were, and still are, serving as missionaries. In 2013 she married Lieutenant Brandy Reyes, an officer in the Honduran Air Force. Then in the spring of 2014 God called her to become a missionary, a step that He had been preparing her for her whole life. Rachel’s passion and calling is to help and encourage missionary kids throughout Honduras. Having grown up on the mission field she understands the struggles that most MKs (missionary kids) go through, and she feels that through her knowledge, and desire to work with youth, she can help other MKs. Thank you for all you do to help us support the people of Honduras. Medical Missions We don’t give away churches. If a congregation desires to construct a building, and they approach us for help, Russell will meet with the pastor and congregation members and discuss construction details with them. While we do receive some donations earmarked for church construction, the usual situation is that we receive more requests for church construction help than the amount of funds we receive, so part of what we do is to advise the church members on how to build their buildings in the most economical way, making use of local materials and skills. We have lived in Honduras since 2001. We are supported through the Foundation for Missions located in Orlando, Florida.
