SOUTH LAKE HOSPITAL FOUNDATION, INC., CLERMONT

Our Mission South Lake Hospital is a community hospital offering a full continuum of care close to home for residents of South Lake County. We are dedicated to a patient-centered continuum of care that gives peace of mind from diagnosis through recovery. Our facilities, advanced treatments and procedures and highly qualified staff make South Lake Hospital an exceptional health care institution. As a non-profit, we are committed to a true partnership with the South Lake community that focuses on health, wellness and public education. The principle of community serving community is the foundation of our care. Our history in South Lake began when a group of community-minded citizens came together in 1938 to form the Clermont Welfare League. Their simple goal was to build a clinic to meet the needs for health care service in South Lake County. South Lake Hospital was founded in 1947 to provide quality healthcare services and promote healthy lifestyles to this community. Over the next six decades, we’ve continually expanded our services and community outreach to better serve South Lake residents. That commitment culminated in 2000 with the opening of our beautiful new campus. Today we’ve grown to be a cornerstone of the South Lake community. Our 160-acre health, wellness and education campus provides a complete continuum of quality care to the citizens of the South Lake community. With 170 beds and more than 1,500 employees, we are equipped to serve you. We offer a variety of medical services including diagnostic imaging, orthopedics, robotic surgery, urology and cardiac care among others. The Centre for Women’s Health offers complete care for women from maternity to maturity. South Lake Hospital is also home to the National Training Center, which provides total body fitness, advanced rehabilitative services and athletic training. CPR / BLS Healthcare Provider Class South Lake Hospital provides certified training in basic life saving techniques for adults, children and infants.  We also offer CPR renewals that follow the American Heart Association Basic Life Support guidelines. The compliance and ethics program provides many benefits to South Lake Hospital, including: South Lake Hospital's Compliance Hotline is a simple, risk-free way for you to report your concerns. This Hotline connects you to an outside vendor who forwards the information you provide to us. You do not have to give your name or any other identifying information. All matters reported to the Hotline will be investigated thoroughly and in a timely manner. As one of Central Florida’s premier healthcare systems, Orlando Health recognizes that fostering an atmosphere of integrity and honesty is of utmost importance. All team members at Orlando Health are committed to our mission of improving the health and quality of life of the individuals and communities we serve. The Code of Conduct is the cornerstone of our Compliance and Ethics Program. It assists team members in maintaining Orlando Health’s high ethical standards in all business dealings and provides guidance to ensure that our organization conforms to the ethical and legal standards expected of us. The Code of Conduct provides guidance to team members on important topics such as legal compliance, workplace conduct and integrity, confidentiality, record keeping, conflicts of interest, business relationships and the protection of assets. The document is updated periodically to respond to changing conditions. Compliance & Ethics is responsible for maintaining and updating Orlando Health’s Code of Conduct. For more information about Compliance & Ethics, please visit the Compliance & Ethics page. Other requirements such as the need for encrypting electronic transmissions that contain PHI and that travel outside of our network are new and will have to be addressed in order to achieve compliance. Finally, the Security Rule does not tell us what technology to use nor how to go about creating some of the policies that we will need. It does require that we determine what approach to take that will best suit our needs while still meeting the basic obligations in each area. HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act is the most comprehensive healthcare privacy legislation ever passed in the United States. All health care providers (hospitals, physicians, pharmacies, dentists, etc.), health plans and health care clearinghouses (3rd party vendors for billing, claims, etc.), must comply. HIPAA protects medical records and other individually identifiable health information whether it is on paper, in computers or communicated orally. South Lake Hospital must comply with HIPAA.
