About South Dade Neonatology The South Dade Neonatology group was founded in 1999 by a group of well known physicians with over 15 years of experience, in order to better serve the perinatal/neonatal patients in the greater South Florida area. Based on industry research and changing standards in neonatal care, the partners saw a need for smoother transitions for the families of pre-term newborns and critically ill babies. South Dade Neonatology embraced the practice of family-centered care. As patient advocates, South Dade Neonatology strives to provide the family with unparalleled support through information and resources to offer better care for their baby while in the hospital and later at home, making the discharge less stressful. Our physicians are active staff at five local area hospitals: Mercy Hospital, Miami Children's Hospital, Baptist Children's Hospital, Kendall Regional Medical Center and Hialeah hospital. They are compassionate, experienced and highly trained neonatologists.The South Dade Neonatology group is actively involved in the education of physicians, nurse practitioners and international medical students at many local hospitals. Our close relationships with the hospitals creates an environment that keeps our practice on the cutting edge of neonatology. Our Patient Relations Representative is a liaison between your family and our team. The Patient Relations Representative will provide insurance information and guide you through the financial aspect of treatment. It is her goal to make sure all your questions are answered during this critical time when your thoughts are elsewhere, on your baby's health. At 35 weeks, after 9 weeks of bed rest, my son was born via C-Section. Throughout my hospital bed rest, the doctors of SDN would visit me periodically to provide professional support and to prepare us for the possibility of having our son in the NICU. To our dismay, Andres was born with pre-mature lungs and remained in the NICU for 18 days. Thank you for being so helpful and patient! You educated us so well you made us feel like experienced parents, yet we are rookies. We hope you continue to help parents the way you helped us.
