The Sorenson team is qualified to build everything from single-family homes to high-rise office complexes. Bob Sorenson started building homes for family and friends as a hobby, but his excellent work caused Sorenson Construction to grow quickly. Bob spent many years as an estimator, sales engineer and project manager—skills that serve him well today. We want to thank you again for another job well done! Having built our first home with you, we didn’t think twice when it came time to build again. We knew what we wanted and your experience and knowledge helped us achieve the home of our dreams. With our busy schedules, attention to detail, communication and timing were key to meeting our deadline. I want to share my experience with Sorenson Construction to help in your building decision. I started building a house in 2003 with another builder in Tilden’s Grove neighborhood. The initial builder ended up being a complete disaster. Many issues with the first builder ranging from not building the house timely (18 months and not even framed), doing shoddy work and not making appropriate change orders or using common sense. Lawyers were involved and ultimately the initial builder was fired half-way through the project. There I was with a complete mess on my hands. No builder and a project not even half finished. I approached Bob Sorenson to see if he could fix the first builders mistakes and complete my house. Bob and I walked the construction project and had several discussions about changes needed, time lines, warrantees and cost. Working with Bob and Jody was a complete pleasure. We worked out a contract to complete the job (very straight forward). Bob and Jody listened to what I would like to have done with the house and provided insight on structural design changes. Bob understood my concerns with the old builder and acknowledging his faith in his team and took full liability of home warranty. We reached an agreement and moved forward with the RE-construction of our home. Sorenson construction was very accessible for questions during the building process which helped lower any anxiety I might come across. I noticed Bob on site often making sure the building was done correctly and if anything needed to be changed he would initiate, I did not have to point it out. It’s coming up on a year in the new house and even though we closed, the Sorenson’s have been very good and timely with any punch list items. My experience building a house was horrible on the account of what the initial builder put us through. I can’t speak enough on how important it is to find a great architect and builder to make this process enjoyable. If I would have reached out to Sorenson Construction initially my building process would have been a completely different experience. I can’t speak enough praises for Bob and Jody, they are good at what the do, they have a very good team and they care, combination hard to find. Our personal experience with Sorenson Construction while we were building our dream home was phenomenal. We actually had a wonderful experience through the entire process from beginning to end and beyond. We, our friends and family still marvel at how beautiful our home turned out. We would work with them again in a heartbeat. We are nearing our 2 year anniversary of moving into our new home that Sorenson Construction built. One would think the questions would cease and the builder relationship would come to an end. We are fortunate that Sorenson Construction is not only around to answer our continued questions, but that they are so willing to help. They have made us feel as though they are genuinely concerned that we are 110% satisfied. Every step of the way, they have been willing to guide and aide us in our quest for perfection. Bonds have been created within the Sorenson team that extend beyond the normal boundaries of a business relationship. While we were building our home, we knew Bob and Jody had integrity, but we truly didn’t understand the magnitude of value of that trait until we were completed with our home. Clients may consider a General Contractor (GC) as a cost. We consider a GC a value. After 30 years in the real estate development business, we want to highlight an important point regarding the value of a GC. Many individuals see a GC as a necessary evil in the development equation and only focus on the construction contract, the GC fee and when the project will be completed. In essence, many people assume that the architect and engineer are never wrong and the GC just implements. We assure you that this philosophy will cost owners money and time, and they will probably be less than satisfied six months after they move in. They will look at various aspects of their project and keep saying “I wish we would have done this”. Just ask our neighbor. We would give your team (it truly is a team effort) an “A” regarding our experience with your organization prior to construction, during construction and after we lived in our residence after construction. Sorenson Construction was excellent at maintaining a critical path of priorities, communicating, coordinating sub-contractors and providing numerous options for our consideration.
