Our love of miniatures goes back to 1989 when I received a book about creating miniatures. This book inspired me to create my first wall house out of cardboard. Once this was done, I created an assortment of dollhouse furniture and miniature accessories out of household items to display. This was good for a while, but I wanted more. For my birthday, I received a gift from my mother: a beautiful wooden two room cottage. After careful assembly and painting, then decorating and adding furniture and accessories, this house was quickly outgrown. I kept it for display for a few years, but I wanted someone to enjoy it as much as I had. So this dollhouse was passed on, for another miniature lover to enjoy. I continued building dollhouses and adding dollhouse furniture and accessories, until I had nowhere to keep them. So, I passed these on for others to enjoy. I loved this so much that, in 2001, this hobby turned into Sophie's Minis. It is called Sophie's after my beautiful daughter. We consider the dollhouse and miniatures hobby to be a beautiful thing. In addition to our wide selection of products, we offer custom items as well. We will assemble, paint, or customize any of the dollhouse kits available from our site with the caption "Would you like us to assemble this kit?" If you'd like us to paint the dollhouse for you, simply visit our "Tools, Glue and Paint" section to select the colors that you'd like for the exterior, trim and interior. The cost of labor is already included in the price of the assembled house, we only charge for materials (any leftover paint will be shipped with your dollhouse for any future touchups). We will not glue into place the interior trim for windows, second story flooring, or room dividers unless specifically requested. This is to allow for future customization such as the addition of wallpaper or flooring. At this time, we do not wallpaper or add flooring to the dollhouse. Buyer is responsible for shipping fees, however, we will deliver within a 10 mile radius free of charge. Remember: some of the dollhouses will be too large to ship via UPS once assembled.
