Our fees for most services are roughly half the cost of similar services from other providers. When asked, Rick Parrish, president & founder of Sober Escorts, Inc., describes himself as “Just an old alcoholic/addict that’s been clean a few years and had a pretty good idea.” While that may be true, there is a quite bit more to Rick’s story. Rick was gifted with an entrepreneurial and compassionate spirit. At age 22, Rick started his first small business, an insulation company. Since then, Rick has helped to found and operate three other successful small businesses. He has also worked for two Fortune 500 companies. “During my career in business and in addiction I have been way up and I have been way down. I’ve flown in private jets and spent the night at The Salvation Army. It was always the addiction that took me to the low points.” Rick founded Sober Escorts, Inc. in 2004. He has found his niche and truly has not only a passion for what he does, but has positively impacted countless lives. Sober Escorts, Inc. employs over 60 men and women across the US, Australia, and England. Many are degreed, licensed and/or certified professionals in the recovery field. Jamie came into the field of addictions and recovery in 1998 after spending her 20’s globe-hopping in various sales jobs, living what she terms her “gypsy days.” If asked, she would tell you she has always danced to her own rhythm, learning most of her lessons the hard way, but learning them nonetheless. Jamie believes in hard work, honesty, love, passion, purpose, and laughter–sometimes in that order, sometimes not. She lives to create what comes into her mind; whether it’s the perfect pairing of companion to client, fantastic flavors in the kitchen, a rock garden in her back yard, or aromatic bath scrubs for herself and her friends. In the past, she lived in her negative thoughts, beliefs, and old messages, and when that became tiring and ineffective, she started doing her own healing work. Over the years, she has been able to let go of the people, places, & things that no longer benefit the life she chooses to live today. Jamie has been with her husband, Rick Parrish, the President and visionary of Sober Escorts, Inc. for over 24 years. They have 2 beautiful daughters, too many animals and they still make each other laugh out loud – though it hasn’t always been easy. “By doing my own healing, I have learned good habits and have both the heart and ability to help others understand and accept they, too, can create new habits, which will change their lives for the better. I can support people as they come to believe there is hope through even the smallest change, and I will convince them they can transform their lives by working for their own needed change.” Jamie graduated with her Masters Degree in Social Work May 1998 from the University of Central Florida, Orlando. She began her career in the field of Addictions & Mental Wellness at Savannah’s Hospital, a private psychiatric hospital, in Port St. Lucie, Florida one month after graduation. Jamie was afforded many learning opportunities working as a Social Worker on a locked dual diagnosis unit. She worked hand in hand with the psychiatric and medical teams. She learned crisis intervention and the importance of gaining her client’s trust and respect. As her areas of interest became more focused on chemical and process addictions, Jamie moved in 2001 to Hanley Hazelden in West Palm Beach, Florida to work as a Clinical Case Manager assisting clients with both the admission and discharge process. Jamie was with Hanley for three years when she was called to work as a Primary Therapist at The Refuge-A Healing Place in Ocklawaha, Florida in January 2004. From there, everything changed. In the last 11 years, Jamie has been afforded the opportunity to work and train with some of the brightest most outstanding leaders in the fields of addiction, trauma treatment, and mental health. In addition to her degree, she holds certifications as: Addictions Professional (CAP), Intervention Professional, (CIP), and Trauma Therapist (CTT). She has trained in trance breath work, EMDR, DBT, and hypnosis, to name a few. She sits on the board of the Association of Intervention Specialists as their Program Director, and has been a part of Sober Escorts, Inc. since it’s beginning. She came full time to Sober Escorts as Vice President and Clinical Director in March 2012. Today, Jamie spends the majority of her time on the phone or in the air.
