In 1973 Ron Smith (Dad) left a longtime factory job to run his own home maintenance and repair business and eventually he became a custom home builder. However, by 1977 he was fed up with the New York winters. ​In November of that year Mr. Smith moved his family to South Florida, where he soon learned that the building industry did not care as much about quality. Concluding that the building industry in Florida was not for him he returned to the home maintenance and repair business and for a time in the revitalization of distressed residential properties. As a side job Mom bought a small Vertical blind business in 1988. By the mid to late 90's it became more than just a side project and now Dad took over the business full time. Out of high school Phil, the youngest son, also became a full time employee. Although only part of the business for a couple years Phil has spent time in and out of the business, keeping up to date with the the Window treatment industry. Many members of the Smith family have worked in some capacity with the company. Eldest son, Dave, launched his own company in 1981, a passionate champion of the same attention to detail. Dave lives and works in Palm Beach and runs his own window treatment business from Jupiter, South. In recent years grandson, Michael, has become a third generation member of the family business.
