I earned a B.S. in BioMedical Sciences in 2004 at USF and attended medical school. However, after a pivotal moment in my life, I was challenged with the decision to either fully invest my life in medicine or my brand new family; I decided on family. It was then that the pest control industry entered my path. I began as a salesman at TruGreen and eventually started my own business in the grounds maintenance industry. In January 2006, I opened the doors to my company, AgroPro, LLC, a mid-size company in Ocala, FL. As the business began to expand, I served in multiple capacities working as a Crewman, Foreman, Field Supervisor, Department Manager, Operations Manager, Sales Manager, General Manager and ultimately served as CEO for this multi-million dollar revenue company. As my family needs changed, it became clear that moving to Melbourne would best support those goals. Therefore, I sold the business and began as Commercial Accounts Manager for TruGreen. What initially began as the pursuit of a job, however, changed into a desire to dedicate my working life to a company with morals and ethics that aligned with my own. And it was this path that lead me to my current position as Lawn Supervisor at Slug-A-Bug. It took some trial and error, but I finally found that home in Slug-A-Bug—a company that I am truly blessed to be a part of. Overall, I have seven years’ experience in this industry. I am a BMP- certified instructor and have built and managed multi-million dollar budgets in the pest control industry. I love to learn and enjoy building multi-faceted teams that build businesses and have a positive effect on our community. I am a certified Pilot as well as a certified SCUBA diver. I have always said that I find God in the ocean. It is the place where day-to-day minutia disappears and God reveals himself in His creation, reminding me how truly small I am. Whether on a surf board making everyone around me look good or swimming under the surface in complete awe, the ocean is where I truly belong. Luckily for me, my wife, two boys and I all share the same passion for the ocean and whenever our busy lives let up, we abscond to the water! I have worked in the pest control industry for almost nine years here at Slug-A-Bug and was recently nominated to serve as Region 4 Assistant Director of the Florida Pest Management Association. I have earned several awards here at Slug-A-Bug, including three Employee of the Month awards and an award for Outstanding Service to the Company in 2008. I am thorough, dedicated and excel at problem-solving. I enjoy leading our Administrative team here at Slug-A-Bug and am always looking for ways to improve the efficiency with which our organization runs. I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa fraternity and recently graduated with honors with an Associate of Arts Degree from Eastern Florida State College. In 1982, I began in the pest control industry as a PC Technician for Reese Pest Control. In the 6 years that I worked for this company, I won several awards for Technician of the Month and also Technician of the Year. In January 1986, I was promoted to Service Manager where I held the title for two years. I took a position at Truly Nolen Pest Control as Sales Representative and after four years was promoted to Branch Manager in order to start a new office in Port St. Lucie. After four years running the PSL office, I returned to Melbourne and found my home at Slug-A-Bug. I had known our Founder, Doug Vander Poest from working together at Reese Pest Control. I made the change because I wanted to work for a small, honest and caring company and for a true leader who cared about his employees. I worked for sixteen years as a Sales Representative and currently serve as Technical Director. I am fully certified in the categories of: General Household Pest Control, Lawn and Ornamental, Subterranean Termite and Tent Fumigation. I have attended IPM courses, Truly Nolen Business Management courses, University of Florida Termite Management Courses and many others, including the School of Hard Knocks!
