SkySong, The ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center is one of the premier economic engines in the Valley of the Sun. Plaza Companies is the Master Developer of SkySong, and the team includes Plaza del Rio Management Corp. as Property and Construction Manager and Lee & Associates as the Brokerage Team. Architects at SkySong include Pei Cobb Fried and Partners, DMJM Design, Butler Design Group, Kendle Design Collaborative, and Gary Todd and Associates. DPR is General Contractor for SkySong 3. SkySong 5 will be the newest building on the SkySong campus, and wlll bring the total SkySong project to more than 750,000 square feet of commercial office capacity. Construction is expected to begin in early 2017. The cost of the building and the accompanying parking structure that will be built will exceed $45 million. The City of Scottsdale and the Arizona State University Foundation reach an agreement to redevelop the corner of Scottsdale Road and McDowell Road into what will become SkySong. Plaza Companies and its affiliates are selected as the Master Developer of SkySong, The ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. After two years of construction, the first two buildings at SkySong open and ASU SkySong is established. The buildings immediately generate significant interest from potential tenants. After three years and in a challenging economy, SkySong 1 and 2 approach 95 percent occupancy as the project’s vision begins to become a reality. Work begins on the SkySong Apartments, the residential component of the project with a total of 325 residences. Work begins on SkySong 3, the newest office building at SkySong, with Workiva, ASU SkySong and Plaza Del Rio Management Corporation as initial tenants. SkySong Apartments are now open and available for immediate leasing, providing a new opportunity to live at SkySong! SkySong 3 celebrated its Grand Opening on January 13, where Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane, ASU President Michael Crow and other dignitaries experienced the new building. SkySong 4 opened in the fall to companies including Booker Software, Brightcove, EdPlus at ASU and Mindbody. SkySong 5 will be the newest building on the SkySong campus, and wlll bring the total SkySong project to more than 750,000 square feet of commercial office capacity.
