Sexy Witch Apothecary is owned and operated by a licensed Skincare Specialist who lovingly and magickly handcrafts all of our “no harmful chemical” products. She noticed how difficult it was to find skincare products that weren’t made with harmful chemicals or didn’t exacerbate skin issues, so she not only created scrumptuous smelling, skin-loving bath and body products (and soy candles), but also products specifically catering to those with skin issues. Our name came about by way of our generational spirituality, the brand color is dark purple and all products have witchy/magical names and descriptions (to distinguish us from others). Presently, we are an e-commerce business with the vision to open a brick-and-mortar that includes a day spa. We love house parties and creating custom products for special events like baby showers, bridal showers, wedding favors, anniversary events, etc. We are happy knowing everything we make is chemical free and if something external causes a skin issue, we can usually make something to help! The Sexy Witch is a hard-core animal lover and advocate (we don’t even use Eye of Newt – (toad-ally different story)! Therefore, we NEVER test on animals and we NEVER purchase our raw ingredients or materials from those that do! All of our products are tested on humans…those that have a voice. Purchase products solely from cruelty-free companies and you’ll help end cruel tests on animals, while sending a powerful message to the companies that still test. Every Sexy Witch product can be distinguished by the Sexy Witch purple color, the magical name given to each product and a description in the form of either a rhyming “spell” or a delightful narrative to magically stimulate the senses through imagery. We use only natural butters, oils, herbs, locally produced honey and beeswax, distilled water, pure cane sugar, goat milk, soy wax, salts and essential oils. Any fragrance oil used meets FDA, RIFM and IFRA standards and any colorant used is either natural or FD&C approved safe for food, drugs and cosmetics. Sodium Hydroxide (lye) is mixed with distilled water, oils, butters and fragrances to create a chemical reaction that eventually produces a solid soap. Potassium Hydroxide is used in making products that are more easily dissolved in water (i.e., shower gel). We only use preservative in our products that are sensitive to microbial growth (i.e., liquid soap, lotions, etc.). If you have specific allergies (i.e., nut allergies), it is your responsibility to determine if any ingredients listed on Sexy Witch Apothecary products will cause an adverse reaction. Sexy Witch Apothecary does not use Parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, animal or petroleum products. We do use vegetable oils, distilled water, essential oils, local honey and beeswax, butters, FDA approved colorants, sodium hydroxide, oatmeal and fragrance oils governed by RIFM and IFRA standards. – it breaks down and gets completely used up in the soapmaking process. Dyes, which must be approved by the FDA before being used in soaps or cosmetics, pigments and mica are often used to change the color of soap. In fact, any ingredient used in a soap or cosmetic for the purpose of changing the color must be on the list of FDA approved colorants, and must be approved for the specific use. For example, some colorants are not approved for use on lips, others are not approved for use in eye products. In addition to color additives, some specialty ingredients may cause the color of the soap to change. For example, adding french green clay to a soap will cause it to have a green color, cinnamon will turn the soap brown and paprika will turn it orange. These ingredients are not used specifically to change the color of the soap, but for other properties they bring to the finished product (although the color change is something that a soapmaker must keep in mind when formulating a specific type of soap). The only preservatives we use are in products that would sit in a wet environment and would grow mold (i.e., scrubs, lotions, etc.) if preservatives were not used. Made from petroleum oil (Hello! A refined gasoline by-product!) Black soot is carcinogenic (not naming names but take a look at the jar you purchased from that huge candle company…just sayin’) Our “grown and manufactured in the USA” wooden crackling candle wicks burn safer and cleaner than cotton wicks, and provide a multi-sensory experience. They allow for an excellent scent throw, have quick lighting with little to no afterglow, no smoking during burn cycle, are organic and eco-friendly, no carbon buildup and provide a beautiful crackling sound (like a fireplace). The wood is sourced from an FSC certified mill in the United States.
