Help Donna has coached soccer for over 20 years at all levels, from youth to the college game. Thirteen of those years she coached with Amanda Cromwell at UCF and upon Amanda’s move in 2013 to UCLA, Donna helped her and the Bruins on their journey to winning the National Championship…only in a different capacity as their Leadership Coach and Team Architect. Donna stepped out of the x’s and o’s of the college game so that she could devote 100% of her time to consulting. Through intense focus on leadership and culture development she has helped coaches, teams, and athletes across the country build foundations and strategies to ACHIEVE GREATNESS. If we pass an antique shop on the road you will see me pointing out the window and not understanding why we are not STOPPING! You can find some cool things in these shops. I am reminded how old I am when I see the dinnerware I ate off of as a kid….in an antique store….NO….it can’t be! If you need help in being a professional antique shopper let me know! You have to learn to scan quickly and spot things you might want…I mean NEED! There is always a lot to look at so learning the tricks of the trade is important. You are not in the “Soccer Business”, you are in the “People Business”. That is the first radical thought I started this series with. This forever changed the way I approached my job and I hope it will change the way you approach yours. I always introduced myself as a soccer coach but if I truly believed I was in the people business then I needed to cross out the word soccer and realize I was a from one point to another. I don’t allow them to stay where they are. I help them grow and move forward. We are all “human”. Inside each of us is a human spirit that can achieve great things and be something very special. Coaches and players are ‘people first’. We coach out of who we are on the inside. Players play out of who they are on the inside. To get the most out of our players we have to connect with that ‘person’ on the inside. Part of coaching is growing people. It is that person, that human spirit inside your player who is loyal. Your favorite passing pattern is not going to be loyal to you. That system you play is not committed to you…PEOPLE have these capacities. People are brave. People are committed. People are driven. It is the ‘person’ inside the player that makes the difference. must have my written permission Without my written permission
