History of Search Engines 411 Inc -- Just putting a web page up is not enough. Back in the web's beginnings, we put up a web site in an effort to sell a house. We did not have a lot of response through our site, despite the facts: house was beautiful, in a great neighborhood, priced to sell quickly. After adding a counter to our page we realized that nobody other than friends ever visited our site! Being a novice at that point, it seemed that just submitting the site to the major search engines would establish our site's web position, increase traffic and sell our house! At that point we were naive enough to think that all those "auto-submission companies" would submit the site in a manner that search engines accepted, and index our pages. Having learned that lesson, I started the never-ending task of keeping up with the rules and all the various changes that ultimately impact how many people would ever even see our site, and making changes to the site accordingly. Usually the changes were only the source code, and did not change what visitors saw. During the process I acquired a few useful tools, learned a lot, sold the house and relocated to beautiful Naples, Florida. From then on I occupied my time helping other folks by administering/ managing/ maintaining their sites in the same manner that we did our own, with emphasis on optimizing their sites for the search engines. That led to the founding of Search Engines 411 and later to our incorporation in 2001.
