is an urban designer based in Seagrove Beach, Florida. His firm, Schnell Urban Design, was founded in 2004. Among the most prominent of the Schnell Urban Design projects is Cinnamon Shore, located on the Gulf of Mexico in Port Aransas, Texas. Design Bureau magazine said Cinnamon Shore is New Urbanism “revived and revamped,” a place that “has architects talking,” and Mark has tweaked New Urbanism “for the better.” Mark is also leading the way for two other walkable mixed-use communities in the same area: Palmilla Beach and Sunflower Beach. Together, the three communities are similar in size, scope, and design to the renowned New Urbanist communities along Highway 30A in Walton County, Florida. Mark is actively engaged in urban design education and outreach through tours, speaking engagements, pro bono work for non-profits, and commentary for documentaries, including the “Seaside: The City of Ideas” episode of the acclaimed series American Makeover.
