Our job is to provide legal services to Florida homeowners and business owners who have suffered a loss to their property and hold an insurance policy protecting for that loss. Florida being a coastal and tropical environment homeowners often deal with water, flood, and hurricane damage. Or the damage may be caused by isolated events involving wind, rain, hail, plumbing leaks, broken water lines, roof leaks, sewage backups or other accidental events outside of the policyholders control. Often, this work is covered under an insurance policy. Services must be performed immediately to mitigate the damage to the insureds property. The homeowner/businessowner should also report the claim as soon as the loss is discovered. Once that claim is filed the insurance company has a duty to properly adjust the loss submit payment to the insured. In many circumstances the insurance company will rightfully honor the policy and pay the homeowner what is rightfully owed. Unfortunately, in some instances the insurance company is not willing to pay the claim so easily, forcing the homeowner to seek outside counsel. In that instance, we are here to assist. Mr. Schirmer has extensive experience handling property and casualty insurance claims. Prior to starting Schirmer Law he managed a firm handling in excess of 800 insurance claims for multiple clients. In addition to litigating property insurance claims, he also handles construction litigation, consumer protection, and community association claims. Mr. Schirmer also holds certifications as a Water Remediation Technician and Advanced Structural Drying issued by the IICRC. Originally from Houston, Texas, Mr. Schirmer has experience in a number of areas of law. He served as an intern in the 262nd Criminal District Court in Harris County under Judge Mike Anderson where he learned the inner workings of the criminal justice system. Mr. Schirmer also completed a six-moth internship at a General Practice law firm in San Marcos, Texas where he gained experience in the private sector including but not limited to civil law, family law, and criminal defense.
