Our brands—which span design, luxury, fashion and beauty—include magazine, a position I’ve held since 2001, I am Chief Design Officer of SANDOW. In this additional role, I provide leadership support for various design-related partnerships, projects and opportunities that the company may pursue. I manage all technology initiatives for the company and am responsible for building—and continuing to develop—a state-of-the-art infrastructure that includes higher Internet speeds; voice over I.P. telephony; a more robust internal cloud; increased security; disaster recovery options and more. Previously, I was Digital Media Director for Interior Design Media, where I introduced more original content and video to the site and helped drive advertising revenue by increasing the brand’s digital presence across platforms and devices. While the energy and entrepreneurial spirit we started with still exists, SANDOW has grown into a truly global company. Our rapid expansion from just a few employees a decade ago to hundreds worldwide is an example of our laser focus on creating ideas, brands and businesses that are simple yet brilliant—and approaching them in a way that no one else has. We don’t follow others, especially those who operate the same way they always have. We take an unconventional approach to every aspect of our business—from magazines to licensing. A company is only as good as the team it has. Our people don’t give up when they hit roadblocks—they find a way around them. We continue to be nimble, even as we grow. By working and adapting quickly, we’re able to bring new products and services to market much faster than our competitors. No detail is too small. We really care about how our products look, from magazines and packaging to events and logos. Our audience expects nothing less—and neither do we. Working with world-renowned interior design and architecture firm Gensler, we created our global headquarters in New York City to have an open, modern floor plan that fuels collaboration among our brands, clients and partners, and serves as a showcase for the amazing things we’re doing across the company. Likewise, our corporate HQ in South Florida reflects who we are—energetic, entrepreneurial and inventive. Lifestyle and product images, portraits and editorial spreads are shot at SANDOW's in-house photo and video studio. The company’s in-house gym includes treadmills, elliptical trainers, free weights and more. This untraditional approach allows us to grow, diversify and demonstrate strength across a range of business areas—from membership programs and consulting to licensing and trend forecasting. From our reinvention of the magazine model, to the way we’ve moved into everything from licensing and membership programs, to trend forecasting and big data, SANDOW has never operated like other media companies. While we continue to invest in our print publications, we believe that layering new businesses on top of those assets has been key to our success.
