Back then it was Model T's and dirt roads throughout nearly all of Southwest Florida. We were known as Lee Motors and my grandparents owned the store. They often told stories of Henry Ford, Thomas Edison and Harvey Firestone dropping-by the dealership. While vacationing at his home on the Caloosahatchee River, Mr. Ford would visit with the people that sold and serviced the vehicles he created and even ask advice on how he could make their jobs easier as design changes took place on future models. Then, in the mid 1940's and 50's my father, Sam Galloway Sr. assumed operating control and ownership of the store. Under mounting pressure from Ford Motor Company, the store was re-named and relocated. The Southwest corner of U.S. 41 and Colonial Boulevard became home to the new Sam Galloway Ford. "Senior", as my dad was know, remained the owner of the store until 1970.
