Many have secure, redundant, two-way global communications that automatically uses the least-cost option available (internet connected gateway, Wi-Fi, cellular or a choice of satellite constellations). With as many as 2,000 customer-specific geozones encrypted on the devices, supporting tens of thousands of custom business rules, RSAE Labs’ ‘smarter’ devices minimize unproductive reporting to provide the lowest possible life-cycle cost. Encrypted data, routed to a cloud-based data server, is authenticated and processed for real-time alerting via SMS text and email. Customer authorized users can assess the data using RSAE Labs’ secure cloud-based analytics tools. Custom formatted data is also made available to customer-designated servers for access and processing inside their corporate and government IT Firewalls. Global Sentinel Services and the mist® wireless mesh protocol were originally developed starting in 2004 by Silcon Valley-based Impeva Labs. In 2010, Cubic Defense Applications Inc.acquired Impeva Labs’ and created a subsidiary, Cubic Global Tracking Solutions (CGTS). In 2015, Randall Shepard acquired CGTS’ assets, customer base and intellectual property, retaining many key Impeva Labs/ CGTS staff, to form RSAE Labs, Inc. mist® devices and gateways are available in a variety of physical configurations and sensor feature sets. A mist® Evaluation Kit is offered to allow new users to quickly get up to speed and develop their specific applications. Each mist device can be configured to broadcast a position beacon. This beacon is sent via a signal separate from its normal data transmissions to provide position data in GPS denied environments. Other mobile mist tags can determine their position in relation to nearby position beacons. The signal power of the position beacon can also be reduced compared to the normal mesh transmission power, thereby allowing the position beacon to be more precise. mist® Gateways provide the authentication beacons to form a mist® network and the “data sink” where data is collected for back-haul to a central server. A Gateway also serves as a data source from an authorized remote source for network and device management and configuration, including over-the-air-firmware upgrades. Gateways can be either fixed or mobile and offer a variety of data backhaul options. Wired ethernet, WiFi, cellular (GSM and CDMA), satellite (Iridium and INMARSAT).
