The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry was legally established by The Princes in September 2009 and became fully operational in 2011. Along with The Duchess of Cambridge who is now officially a Patron, they intend to use the Foundation as the main vehicle for their philanthropic activities. Our Mission The Royal Foundation unites people to tackle some of today’s biggest challenges, because when people come together, they can achieve great things. We focus on projects that meet some simple criteria – they reflect the interests and passions of our Principals and matter to society; they bring about sustainable change; they are innovative; and they work in a way that only The Royal Foundation can make happen. We’re also careful not to duplicate or compete with activities already under way. If the potential project meets our criteria we research and explore the most effective solutions, scaling when appropriate and ultimately handing the reins over to one of our partners or developing it in a way that makes it self-sustainable. The Invictus Games is one such programme, developed by The Royal Foundation, now successfully growing and run independently. We support these projects by using our Principals’ convening power to provide a neutral platform where charities and other organisations can work together. Helping children and young people to build their skills, confidence and aspirations.
