After a year of retirement and spending time with his 3 wonderful children and his wife, he realized he needed to find a hobby, so he joined the Federal Drug Administration (FDA).  During his tenure at the FDA, he served as a Medical Officer and clinical reviewer in the Office of Hematology Oncology Products (OHOP) within the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER).  From 2010 until 2015 he was the Deputy Director for Safety within CDER and OHOP.  After 12 years, Dr. Kane decidd to retire again.  However, like the last retirement, it didn't last long.  This one could not be attributed to his children, as they had all moved out and had children of their own.
