Robert J Parker Robert J Parker would regard himself as a fantasy fiction writer with more than a passing nod to both the contemporary and traditional elements seen in this genre. He is also new to the whole world of writing and has recently self-published his first book. He’s also new to creating websites and hopes the finished product is good and enjoyed by those who search it out. His background is non-traditional being the construction industry with no literary qualifications beyond knowing his alphabet. As a avid reader over the years in many genres he has gained a real appreciation for the art of story telling. Of course many readers eventually find one genre above another to their tasting and this is no different with Robert J Parker. Fantasy and especially Epic Fantasy has proven to be his favourite. The ability to be transported to otherworldly environments where magic and heroes abound has always proved fruitful territory for his imagination. After several pencils and 90,000 written words later, I decided using a computer would be a better medium. The actual writing came easy and that was in part because my source for the story had been long in the making in my daydreams. I say the writing came easy but that doesn’t mean writing is easy. That becomes obvious when a writer is confronted with editing their work. What is it they say? In our life today, fervour and zeal drive many to push back the boundaries of knowledge. This practice can relegate old ideas of doing no harm, to a place where on balance doing the least harm for the benefit of the many is acceptable. This in itself is not a new idea. Similar fervour and zeal pushed religious boundaries in the past when only the emergence of the renaissance tempered such ambitions.
