Rockwell Laser Industries (RLI) is a worldwide provider of laser education and training, laser consulting services and laser safety products to industrial, medical and aesthetic facilities. Thirty years ago, R. James Rockwell, Jr. predicted tremendous growth in the use of lasers and therefore an increased need for laser safety training and consulting. Today, RLI provides comprehensive laser safety services and products to all sectors of the laser community. RLI provides a wide selection of laser safety products, many of which can be customized. Products range from laser protective barriers and eye protection to instructional aids and the widely used LAZAN™ hazard analysis software. RLI offers a variety of laser safety training courses covering a wide spectrum of laser and laser safety topics. The instructors include top professionals from research, industrial, medical and aesthetic fields. RLI provides specialized consulting services on laser and laser safety topics. Services include safety audits, CDRH and IEC product certification and customized on-site training. RLI also serves as a global laser safety information resource for the entire laser safety community. This mission is carried out through the RLI website, by presenting papers at industry conferences, authoring articles in trade journals, and participating on the ANSI, IEC, and other domestic and international laser safety standards committees. Rockwell Laser Industries combines unique activities to provide a full scope of safety related services to the laser industry. RLI’s office in Cincinnati, Ohio serves as the main corporate headquarters for the company. It provides consulting services, training, and products related primarily to the laser and regulatory areas. Patrick Cogan, Product Sales Manager Pat has been with RLI since August 2001 and is currently the product sales manager; specializing in technical sales such as entryway control systems, and laser curtain/barriers. Pat is a graduate from Cincinnati State and received a degree in Laser Electro-Optics Technology (bio med option). His career in the laser industry started in 1998 when he was employed by a cosmetic laser center in Cincinnati, OH where he performed various cosmetic laser treatments and also rented lasers to various doctors' offices throughout the tri-state. Mr. Ertle has been associated with Rockwell Laser Industries (RLI) since 1989 where he now holds the position of President. Bill has provided in-depth lectures and training presentations for numerous RLI Training Institute courses, industry conferences, as well as presentations for events at Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratories, The Fabricators and Manufacturers Association, IEEE/LEOS, OPTCON, ALAC, Bay Area Laser Safety Officers (BALSO) and the International Laser Safety Conference (ILSC). Bill has also authored and co-authored several laser safety articles. In addition to his training-based activities, he routinely provides RLI clients with product specific technical information on laser safety eyewear, windows, barriers, interlocks and other related laser safety equipment. Serving the company for over 20 years, Linda is a team player with a contagious personality. Her overall product knowledge assists her in meeting customers’ needs in a concise manner. Linda specializes in Laser Safety Eyewear, Warning Signs, Equipment Labels, Publications, Online/CD-ROM Training, and Hazard Analysis Software. Barry joined the RLI team in April of 2008 after moving back to Cincinnati from Los Angeles. A newcomer to the Industry, his diverse work history has helped to bring new ideas and insight to the RLI team. Providing marketing support to the business solutions program and business development department are Barry’s main focus. Greg has been an active member of the RLI board of directors for over 10 years. He is a line pilot for United Airlines where he flies Boeing -767/757's predominately to South America & Europe. Greg actively participates on the faculty of the Safety of Lasers Outdoors (A-220) course. He serves on the Aerospace Behavioral Engineering Technology committee of the SAE G-10T (Laser Safety Hazards Subcommittee) and the The ANSI SSC-6 (ANSI Z136.6) committee. He is an honors graduate in Aeronautical Sciences from the Florida Institute of Technology. RLI Vice President and Consultant, Darrell Seeley worked for more than 17 years in laser safety and laser safety training and amassed many accomplishments over that time. Darrell was one of the first nine persons in the U.S. to become a Certified Laser Safety Officer (CLSO) and was a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Board of Laser Safety. He was also a member of ANSI Accredited Standards Committee ASC Z136 Safe Use of Lasers as well as various Z136 subcommittees, and a past member of the Board of Directors of the Laser Institute of America (LIA). Jim Smith is retired as Director of Standards Activity for RLI, and continues as a member of the RLI Board of Directors. He has over 42 years experience in the laser field. Jim's credits include the past Chairmanships of the ANSI Z136 subcommittee for Laser Safety and Training Programs; the IEC TC 76 Working Group 8 committee for Maintenance and New Standards and the ISO TC 172/SC 9 Working Group 3 committee on Safety. Jim served for over 20 years as a member of the US Technical Advisory Group for IEC TC 76. He has been involved in laser safety training programs for over 30 years, authoring computer based training packages, numerous articles and book chapters. Jim is a Fellow member, as well as a past president of the LIA and a lecturer for many of the RLI laser safety courses. He continues to serve as a consultant to RLI. Judy Chamberlain has been involved in laser nursing at the Cincinnati Christ Hospital for nearly 10 years where she served as Divisional Director, Perioperative Nursing and as the Laser Safety Officer. She holds BS and MS degrees in nursing. Judy is a retired member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery and is a former member of the editorial advisory board of Laser Nursing Journal. Judy is also a recipient of the Nursing/Allied Health Excellence Award. Judy serves as a principal lecturer for the RLI Medical Laser Safety Officer course.
