During her career as a professional vocalist and voice teacher Lisa Rhoads-Lorenzo recognized music’s power to affect her students on many different levels. Convinced by the ongoing research of music therapy’s effectiveness as an adjunct treatment for multiple disabilities, medical interventions, and its use as therapeutic medium for counseling, Lisa decided that the addition of a music therapy degree would allow her to combine her two passions, music and helping others, to better serve her community. Company: In 2011 Resounding Healing, Inc. was founded by Lisa Rhoads-Lorenzo. The company now services the Wakulla County, Florida School District’s ESE classes K-12, and provides group and individual music therapy sessions both in-home and at assisted living facilities for those with disabilities and for geriatric clients. We also offer in-office music therapy counseling services at 322 Beard St., Tallahassee, FL. Ms. Lorenzo also maintains her Resounding Healing, Inc. Music Therapy Every person’s health needs are unique, and we are committed to working with our clients to accomplish their goals. Resounding Healing Resounding Healing’s Music Therapy services embrace the tremendous therapeutic benefits of music. During a music therapy session, music is used to help accomplish therapeutic goals that often have nothing to do with music. For example, many children learn their ABC’s by singing the “Alphabet Song”. In this case music was used as a teaching tool to make the task more memorable and enjoyable, yet the goal was Resounding Healing headings under the topics that interest you for more detailed information on how music therapy can help improve specific diagnoses. Lisa and her staff not only bring beautiful music for our pleasure but they are a ray of sunshine to our lives. Lisa…You helped me a lot recovering from the aftereffects of my stroke and advancing age. Through Resounding Healing, Inc. Music Therapy Services, Lisa has been providing weekly music therapy sessions for my 92-year old parents for the past year and a half. The benefits of their sessions together are many: My parents’ minds and voices are engaged as they sing familiar songs and hymns, and their bodies are further engaged as they play percussion instruments while they sing to Lisa’s guitar accompaniment. Lisa provides a consistent therapeutic relationship for my dad who has dementia and my mother who is his caregiver and companion. Through their weekly interaction with Lisa, both my parents experience the joy and power of music. Various other therapists and aides come in and out of their lives, and home health care providers come and go as needed, but Lisa remains the constant for my parents, leading them to express themselves through music and allowing them to feel her support. Both of my parents look forward to music therapy each week as they relax and have fun engaging in such a pleasurable activity with Lisa who truly cares about them. Just sang What Child is This and Silent Night in front of my church. I did awesome. I did not play my guitar so I could focus on what you taught me. I have never gotten so many compliments. Really looking forward to working with you and developing my voice. Thanks for your help. I used to blow out my voice when I’d sing with volume and texture and couldn’t perform more than a few songs.
