Mission Statement
Our goal is to help make the roads safer by reducing the amount of Texting and Driving. Our preventative program is designed to educate drivers, specifically teens, to help them realize how destructive a decision it is to text and drive. They have to know that when driving, the only safe option is to keep their hands on the wheel, not on the phone.
Even before the daily news reports about accidents caused by texting and driving, this dangerous habit was always at the forefront of my mind. After countless times of witnessing someone texting and driving and swerving into my lane, I thought, “What could be done to prevent this?” Many times it was a younger driver. As a parent of a teen driver, and knowing many other parents whose children have begun driving, I was worried about him texting and driving. I also worried about him being a passenger in a car that is being driven by someone that is texting while driving. As parents we can stress to our children how dangerous it is, but once they get in their car or someone else’s, we had no way of knowing if they would listen, no way to monitor it, until now. What if there was a way to report that teen to their parent? Wouldn’t their parent want to know? What if there was a phone number or website they could get reported to? That’s when the concept of “Report Me Texting” began, a preventative program that has consequences. What those consequences will be is determined by you. Maybe it means having the car taken away for a week, 2 weeks, or even a month. Perhaps that is enough of a deterrent to prevent them from texting and driving. Having our program in place, with our sticker on the vehicle, and knowing that anytime they decide to text and drive, that they could be reported by other drivers, is hopefully all that is needed to stop them from doing it in the first place.
I decided that parents needed to know if their teen was making destructive decisions and driving distracted. We thought, “Wouldn’t it be great if NEW drivers wouldn’t even get into this habit?” How do parents know that their teen is really not texting? Our goal is to make Texting and Driving TABOO.. So it’s not cool… It’s dangerous and EVERYONE should know that. So we thought starting with new drivers was the first step.
The next step is our Fleet Department, from buses to taxis to the pizza delivery drivers.. Companies need to realize that drivers are representing their image. It is not good for the company or the public when their employees make the destructive decision to text and drive and put other drivers and themselves in this dangerous situation.
We hope in years to come, no reports will ever be made about texting and driving, but for now we hope we can help keep the public a little safer.
Report Me Texting is a preventative program that uses a highly visible bumper sticker with a unique ID that will hold your teen or employee accountable when they are out on the road. It only takes five minutes to sign up, for a full year of peace of mind.
