More than 30 years ago the Donat brothers began chasing their dream of building an architectural restoration company. With the core values taught to them by their parents such as integrity, quality, commitment and hard work, the Donat children grew up watching their parents run a successful real estate business in Chicago. As the Donats moved away and began their various careers one thing remained constant, their desire to be the best and give 100% at whatever they did. It was this trait that led Dale, Dean and Don to start their own business. On July 1st, 1985 Mid America Metals was born in the small town of Forsyth, MO. Later moving their headquarters to Ozark, MO in 2015. September 1985, they hired their other sister Dodi and her husband Donny, opening the Dallas office, housed in the spare bedroom and garage of brother Don’s house. In 1987 brother Don decided to leave the business and pursue a new career in Seattle. By 1992 the company was booming having surpassed over 2 million dollars in sales, opening offices in St. Louis, Atlanta and Kansas City. Donna, was then promoted to the position of President and completed jobs all over the United States from Disneyworld in Florida to hotels in Hawaii. to grow, improve safety standards, research the best products and practices and implement higher overall industry standards in building restoration. In 2005, as the company celebrated its 20th anniversary, sales were at an all time high. A GPS tracking system was installed in all crew vans nationwide and offices were open in eight cities. 2010 was full of milestones as Mid America Metals celebrated its 25th anniversary in July and the company ended the year by breaking their all time sales record. The biggest news of the year though was the retirement of Dean Donat after 25 years of co-owning the company. On January 5th, 2011- Dale became the sole owner and continues to lead the company with the same vision and values the brothers started with in 1985. After attending Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, WY, Dale began working for the Nissan Motor Corporation. He quickly worked his way up the ranks and eventually became the Director of Parts and Service for the largest Nissan dealer in Chicago. He helped the dealership win many regional and national awards because of his leadership and passion for customer service. He’s also passionate about sports and competing, along with the great outdoors. He has been married to his junior high sweetheart for over 30 years and they have 2 sons and a granddaughter. He currently lives in Southwest Missouri. Brandon is the son of Dale and Mary Donat. He was born in Chicago, IL but grew up in Springfield, MO. Brandon has always had a strong passion for the family business. He started learning about the company from an early age as he traveled around from jobsite to jobsite with his father. After college he joined Mid America Metals as an apprentice in our St. Louis office and soon worked his way up to the Operations Manager then the Regional Director of Operations position. Brandon is an animal lover and someday wants two big dogs at his home in St. Louis, MO.
