Reddy Group at a Glance Reddy Group commenced business as a small construction company in Suva, Fiji in 1947 and is one of the Pacific’s most well respected businesses. Today it has grown through it’s entrepreneurial spirit to hold a diverse global portfolio in a diverse range of activity. In the earlier years, Reddy Group formed a joint venture with Fletcher Construction (New Zealand) to undertake significant construction projects in Fiji and the South Pacific. These projects included the Sheraton Fiji Resort, Lautoka Hospital, Fiji Sugar Corporation Mills, University of the South Pacific and the Nadi International Airport hanger. Today Reddy Group is a highly diversified company with interests spread across a diverse range of asset classes and sectors. Although our historic geographic strengths are in Fiji, our active investments over the years have led to a significant broadening of our spheres to include the wider Pacific as well as multi continent investments. Reddy Group employs more than 1000 people and has two corporate offices, one in Lautoka, Fiji and one in Auckland, New Zealand. Reddy Group Sitemap It was but inevitable for the Reddy brothers to enter into self-employed business, following the lead of their father, Sanniyasi Reddy, who had come to Fiji under Girmit and had later moved into trading. The second eldest brother Ram Sami Reddy started Reddy Construction Company in 1947 taking up construction of residential buildings. He was later joined by his other brother Ranga Sami Reddy. Yanktesh Permal (YP) Reddy joined the Company in 1957 and this allowed Ram Sami Reddy to move to Lautoka to open the branch in the West where there was a sudden surge of growth in the building industry. In a short time, the Company had successfully taken up some ambitious contracts and completed prestigious projects becoming one of the most reputable and leading local building construction companies. The Group acquired a prime site in the Nadi Airport area and built a hotel which was to become the famous Tanoa Hotel. Proving its expertise in operating a tourist hotel as the first local operator, the company soon started acquiring other hotels. RakiRaki in 1968, Skylodge in 1973 and Nadi Travelodge in 1992. In 1970, Reddy Group acquired Clyde Engineering Co Ltd, a NZ company which had expanded its operations in Fiji to market and service heavy construction and industrial equipment in the South Pacific. In its program of diversification Clyde acquired the scaffolding hire business of Boral Acrow, an Australian Company in 2001 and Nacap Hire in 2006. In 2007 the Group entered into the financial services sector in Fiji. Together with a joint venture partner from New Zealand, the Reddy Group has launched an insurance broking firm specialising in all types of general and commercial insurance. The joint venture company seeks to provide tailored professional services and risk management solutions to large corporates, SME’s and individuals.
