The Raw Organics Mission The Mission of Raw Hair Organics is to provide healthy, professional hair care products AND services without the use of toxins, dangerous synthetics, or harmful chemicals. We utilize the finest in sustainable ingredients, components, plant extracts, and natural vitamins. Raw Hair Organics is dedicated to providing salon-professional quality hair and skin care products utilizing natural and organic ingredients whenever possible, while continuing to push that envelop further every day, to ensure the health and safety of both our customers and our environment. Our goal is to always set the standard, not to follow the lead of others Melanie Nickels, Co Founder of Raw Hair Organics, realized the need for organic and 100% natural hair care products after her husband and Co Founder, Ken, was diagnosed with late Stage 3B cancer in 2004, after spending almost 2 decades in the industrial chemical distribution business. While trying to find a way to survive this death sentence, and ultimately battling 2 more occurrences, Ken realized that his daily chemical and environmental exposure probably was a factor leading to his illness. Thus, he and Melanie switched literally overnight to the natural, organic, and toxin-free lifestyle that they live today. During his research, Ken found that the toxic chemicals from his job that probably contributed to his cancer were also in ALL of the hair products that Melanie was using on her clients at the salon every day! That revelation is what led Melanie to open the Raw Hair Organic Salon, the very first of it's kind in Florida, and one of the very first in the United States as well. In her quest for a chemical & toxin-free environment for her and her clients, Melanie experimented with "Natural" and "Organic" products from all over the world, yet was disappointed in either their performance or in their ingredient make up. It always came down to a choice: You either got salon-quality performance with a myriad of toxic ingredients mixed in with the natural & organic ones, or you got really good high quality products with natural ingredients and they didn't perform as expected and clients wouldn't buy them. There was clearly a gap in the market...and that gap was HUGE, yet the demand was clearly there, as the Raw Hair Organic Salon was almost immediately booked solid for months, being open 12 hours a day up to 6 days a week. 3 1/2 years later, and countless hours of lab work and testing, The Raw Hair Organics line was perfected, followed shortly by the Raw Curls, Rodz Grooming For Men, and Raw Paws product lines. What the industry "Greats" mocked and said couldn't be done, was, indeed, a reality. The idea had been gestating in beauty circles for probably two decades, but it was Melanie Nickels who finally, truly, made it a reality in the beauty industry: Natural & Organic Salon-professional quality products that truly PERFORM without compromise, and without chemicals. In her quest for a chemical & toxin-free environment for her and her clients, Melanie experimented with "natural" and "organic" salon hair products from around the globe. Disappointed with either the quality of the products on the market, inconsistancy, or the lack of performance, she knew that the only way to get truly 100% natural & organic hair products that performed like a traditional chemical-based line would be to create it herself. Raw Hair Salon Opens for Business The process was difficult. Many industry experts said it couldn't be done, that she was wasting her time. The tears, frustrations, and failures were many. But Melanie was determined to succeed, to set the bar of natural & organic hair care products higher than it had ever been before. Melanie worked hand-in-hand with the chemists and formulators every step of the way. Every single formulation was developed at the distinct direction of Melanie with her years of experience as one of the few American Board of Certified Master Haircolorists, and as an internationally-trained master hairstylist. Melanie, a true perfectionist, had her hands in literally every step of the process; from countless hours in the lab doing R&D, to picking the bottles, caps and pumps, designing every label, overseeing quality control during printing of the bottles, to hand packaging each and every order to ensure the perfection that she, and you, expect with every order of Raw Hair Organics salon quality hair products. Nothing is done in some huge factory overseas in a country who's name you can't even pronounce. Everything is done here, by hand, in the USA. Raw Hair Organics Goes Live! Melanie Nickels, once part of a Intercoiffure salon as well as a seasoned Broadway show stylist, quickly becomes critically acclaimed in the beauty industry for creating the Raw Hair Organics family of products.
