The history of Rachel’s Collision Center began some 43 years ago when Gary Faulkner, Rachel’s father, started out in the auto body repair business in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1969, Gary worked his way up from car sales to the body shop manager at a local dealership. Gary opened his first auto body repair shop in 1980 and named it Gary Faulkner’s Auto Body. Gary moved his first shop from the downtown area to East Memphis in 1982. By 1984, Gary had opened a second shop in Memphis. In 1988, the family sold the businesses and moved to Orlando opening their first shop in Orlando as Auto Body Center. In 1990, Gary re-acquired the shop in Memphis and managed both the Orlando and Memphis shop. During the time while Rachel was in high school she began her after-school job in the family business helping with daily tasks, learning different aspects of the business. Gary purchased a truck repair center in 1995, in East Orlando, and built another location in Orlando on Orange Blossom Trail and changed the name to Quality Collision. In 1998, Gary sold all shops and began as a consultant for various firms. After Rachel graduated with a degree in Business Administration specializing in Entrepreneurship she worked as a Director of Marketing and Communications for a local company. Following years of her job in the family’s auto body repair business, Rachel was inspired to open a new auto body shop with her father. After months of planning, in March of 2005, Rachel’s Collision Center opened in Oakland.
