MISSION & PURPOSE: The mission of Purposeful Citizen is to make a positive impact on communities through purposeful action. Purposeful Citizen is a socially responsible organization that intends to serve as a resource, providing information on various community based initiatives and encourages individuals to get involved and be the difference they hope to see in their communities. They say necessity is the mother of invention. On a personal level, Ms. Erskine has always been inclined to serve and make a positive difference in her community but felt that maybe she didn’t always know the best way to do so, where to go, or even where to start looking. Purposeful Citizen will be a resource and guide for anyone who has ever felt lost when seeking out volunteer activities or service opportunities. Furthermore, Ms. Erskine feels that this online resource will be a useful and effective means of connecting individuals with their communities. It allows citizens’ to understand the various issues impacting their community and provides them with various opportunities and options to address them. The promotion of community service can help strengthen civil society and remove the social underpinnings that have allowed the “each man for himself” mentality to thrive. Ms. Erskine is an attorney based in West Palm Beach, Florida, who handles land use & real estate transactions, corporate business matters, and provides advice to fitness professionals and athletes in various aspects of sports management. Outside of the office, she is a competitive athlete, transitioning from a Division 1 College Tennis Player to a Bikini Fitness Competitor. Purposeful Citizen is still in the development phase and needs your support. We are immediately seeking: 1) Volunteers to be a part of the team who will be regularly engaging in service events; 2) Interns and Web Developers to assist in the process of gathering the content and developing the online platform; 3) Sponsors to help support and launch the web development and retail ventures.
