Pinellas Urban Brewers Guild also known as PUBGuild was founded by Greg Rapp of Rapp Brewing Company. We are a group of individuals interested in brewing and enjoying craft beers. We meet on the second Saturday of each month at Rapp Brewing. Our meetings usually included presentations on different aspects of brewing, planning upcoming events and a legendary homebrew tasting. We try to have a group brew day once a month when the weather is cool to explore the process of brewing. This year we will be alternating introductory and advanced topics so we have great education topics for all skill levels. Our first educational topic was provided by Chris McAlexander and he brought back the all about yeast topic. The February educational topic will focus on lactobacillus kettle souring beer. It will focus on some of the new products and methods brewers are using to achieve great results. Business It has been suggested that we move our renewal/dues cycle to January – December with the half year beginning in July to help simplify renewal. However, because the half year membership would likely not cover the cost per member for the yearly Holiday party this change could negatively impact the club fiscally. We need further discuss this potential change. So at the February meeting we will have more discussion on this but nothing will change without a vote by the membership. The club will have a permeant display board placed in the breezeway of Rapp Brewing with club information, upcoming events and a new PUBGuild Brewer of the Year plaque. This should be in place by March.
