, Jonathan is a professional musician turned furniture-maker. He’s spent the last two decades years twirling drumsticks for multiple bands including Copeland, States, and Anchor & Braille. His affinity for industrial modern design has been inspired in-part by his travels, though his current inspiration comes from his biggest project in recent years: the total rehab of a 1970s split-level suburban home in Central Florida. Jonathan not only tackles review for Pro Tool Reviews, he also spends quite a bit of time crafting ideas and articles for the Shop Tool Reviews website.
David has always enjoyed working with wood, ever since his teen years. Naturally, this landed him in the carpentry business. He has over 35 years experience that spans a couple decades of trimming out new construction to his more recent work of designing cabinetry and custom fabrication. Right now, David is partially retired and enjoys taking on select “old school” finish and trim carpentry work. We asked David about any pet peeves. The solitary answer: dull blades. As a Pro, David is invaluable when it comes to determining if a tool is truly useful at getting a job done more quickly or efficiently.
Luke does remodeling and repair construction work by day. During his “off” time, he helps maintain a horse farm in Georgia which gives him the perfect opportunity to try out a variety of power tools and hand tools. When he’s not out enjoying the outdoors, you can catch him as a riding double on Fox’s
The son of a journeyman carpenter, Matt Kent has taken to the carpentry trade himself, which has been somewhat of a homecoming. Spending the majority of his adult life as an accomplished photographer, Matt now owns and operates Kent Made, LLC with his father, Richard. Specializing in custom stair installations and fine trim carpentry, Matt spends most of his time either in front of a saw blade or behind a finish nail gun. And, oh how sweet it is. We appreciate Matt’s penchant for quickly getting to the point of whether or not a tool performs as needed, and whether new features are helpful…or just gimmicks.
Pro Tool Reviews is a successful online magazine that has been publishing reviews and industry tool news since 2008. In today’s world of Internet news and online content, we began to inquire and found that more and more professionals were researching a majority of their major tool purchases online. That piqued our interest. There’s one key thing to note about Pro Tool Reviews — we’re all about the professional tool user and tradesman.
We started Pro Tool Reviews because we saw a “gap” in the market—an area we didn’t feel was adequately serviced. That area was the professional tradesman who, let’s face it, loves tools. How do we know that professionals love tools? We’ve gone to job sites, pulled out an as-yet-unreleased
Our goal is simple. We want to provide well-written, accurate reviews that give tradesmen and construction business owners the knowledge they need to make informed choices. We answer the following questions:
Pro Tool Reviews is written by electricians, plumbers, concrete/masonry professionals, framers, HVAC techs, carpenters, maintenance workers, and general contractors… If you work in residential or commercial construction, you’re going to relate to our writers (and you’ll want to read more and more). We’re making it for you, specifically.
