My father introduced me to an ancient Florida spring near Tampa when I was four years old. The water was crystal clear and from the bank I could see bubbling sand and waving green grass on the bottom 20 feet below. As he geared up in primitive scuba equipment, I watched in excitement waiting for him to sink below the surface. When he returned from his dive he was holding the remnants from some fossilized animal. The next thing I remember was him helping me down the bank and onto his back. I took a few deep breaths and down to the bottom we went. The water was ice cold, but I instantly felt like I was born to do this.
