We partner with charitable organizations that allow us to make a positive impact and empower children, families and communities worldwide. The Rescue Mission of Salt Lake’s Easter Banquet The PRMI Giving Network partnered with the Rescue Mission of Salt Lake for the 8 annual Easter banquet at Salt Lake City’s Pioneer Park. The Rescue Mission assists individuals and families experiencing homelessness, addition, or poverty throughout the state of Utah. Volunteers served lunch to 900 homeless people, painted faces, and donated hundreds of plastic eggs filled with candy to the event’s Easter egg hunt. The PRMI Giving Network volunteered at Utah Community Action’s South Salt Lake Head Start Preschool over two days. The Head Start program helps children of families facing adversity prepare for school. Corporate volunteers helped prepare 5,000 meals for kids across the Salt Lake Valley and spent time playing with students. In addition, PRMI gifted each class with new items that promote learning. Sixteen million children across the U.S. come from families struggling with extreme poverty. Recent studies show when kids have school supplies of their own, their grades and classroom behavior improve, their self-esteem strengthens, and their attitudes towards school and learning improve. During the eight-week PRMI Backpack Challenge, PRMI team members across the country raised over $89,000 for the Kids In Need Foundation to provide more than 3,500 backpacks full of school supplies to students attending Title I schools in the U.S. PRMI Hawaii Donations Provide More Than 500 Backpacks to Local Schools Team members in Hawaii raised more than $14,000 for the Kids In Need Foundation during the PRMI Backpack Challenge. Their generous donations provided 500 backpacks to Kalihi Waena Elementary and more than 60 backpacks to Makaha Elementary during the PRMI Week of Giving. Donations from the Great Lakes Division Provides Backpacks for Cornerstone Elementary During the eight-week Backpack Challenge, PRMI’s corporate office raised more than $21,000 for the Kids In Need Foundation. Team members delivered more than 840 backpacks for Jackson Elementary and Rose Park Elementary in Salt Lake City. The donations provided backpacks for each student at both schools. PRMI corporate team members donated more than 200 volunteer hours to help build homes for Utah families. The “Field of Dreams-Eco Community” project is the first of its kind for the Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity. These homes are 1,500-square-feet and extremely energy efficient with only $1.50 per day in energy costs. Leading up to Read Across America day, PRMI held a week-long book drive and collected approximately 400 books. For the nationwide reading celebration, volunteers read books with students at James R. Russell (JRR), a local preschool for low-income families. PRMI donated the books and puppets for every classroom, provided each child a bag with a book to take home, and gave a gift to each teacher. Elementary schools in remote areas of Costa Rica often lack the resources needed to help their students succeed. A group of PRMI employees visited a school in Ortega to donate supplies for learning and helped repair the facility. A group of PRMI team members and their families volunteered at an SOS Children’s Village, which cares for orphaned and abandoned children in unsafe situations in Jamaica. Together they planted fruit trees, painted homes and gave the playground area a makeover. PRMI also provided an early Christmas surprise to the children and their caretakers.
