Pressline Services, Inc. was formed in June 1995 as a result of a major press overhaul project that took place over a two-year period at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. As the project was drawing to a close, Jim Gore, the Post-Dispatch mechanical general foreman and press rebuild project manager, and Wayne Geske, hired by the Post from the press manufacturer as a technical support person, started discussing the possibility of forming a field service company based on the success of the Post-Dispatch rebuild project. St. Louis Metallizing’s project manager for the Post’s cylinders, rollers and eccentrics, became involved in the discussions and presented the plan for the new field service company to Nooter Corporation, St. Louis Metallizing’s holding company. Within two months of the completion of the Post-Dispatch project, the new double-width newspaper press service company, Pressline Services, Inc. was born. Since its formation, Pressline Services has grown from a company of three officers and a handful of temporary field service technicians, to a company of more than 35 full-time employees engaged in web reductions, 3V cutoff technology, press overhauls, press upgrades, installations/reconfigurations, level and alignments, audits, training, and replacement parts. Pressline Services’ Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Project Management and Site Supervisors have over 400 years of combined experience in pressroom related services, with an average of over 20 years per person. Possessing these core competencies have allowed us to regularly contract with the most demanding publishing groups including Gannett, Tribune, MediaNews, Freedom, Dow Jones, Cox, McClatchy and Lee just to name a few. The new press is equipped with 22 zones and four folders and will allow the Globe to print additional commercial and newspaper products along with its current newspaper products.
