The Evolution of a Family Business Roger Palmer & Seth Heyes, two young entrepreneurs collaborated their ideas, education, creativity and their experience in international wholesale and retail management to establish, “Pottery as Art”, a most unique shopping experience in landscape pottery and outdoor decor merchandise. They traveled overseas, visited village potteries, and established business relationships with families and artisans. Back in Bonita Springs they worked relentlessly to give “Pottery as Art” presence; hoping for a flame, the business only flickered. Roger’s parents, successful entrepreneurs themselves, were advocates for the success of “Pottery as Art”. In 2010 Sam and Sandy Heyes, Seth’s parents, came on board to help the young men when they each added the responsibilities of marriage and family to their repertoire. Not only did Roger & Seth finally see the flame burn steadily, but they saw their business begin to grow. By Fall 2012, it became evident that “Pottery as Art” was in Bonita to stay. 2014 was the year “Pottery as Art’s” flame began to shine. The cold northern winter of 2014, a rebounding economy and an acre of inventory were the perfect setting for a growing business. In 2015, the “Pottery as Art” staff family grew by four more associates. Roger and Seth believed from beginning that a business is only as good as its staff. Today, the “Pottery as Art'” flame burns strong. “Pottery as Art” is a member of the Bonita Springs Chamber of Commerce and participates many local events and fundraisers.
