Brendan Fitzgerald is a 20 year veteran of the international television business on both the production and distribution sides. He has structured innovative strategic partnerships between content suppliers, producers, broadcasters and distributors across a wide variety of cultures, resulting in some 3,000 scripted episodes produced in more than 15 countries. After a stint at Germany’s BetaFilm running the English-language production group and handling sales and co-productions with RAI and Mediaset in Italy, he relocated to Los Angeles with Sony Pictures Television. There he developed creative approaches and business models that drove SPT’s rollout of a worldwide situation comedy business and broke new ground to get a major studio into the telenovela genre, both in Russia with Building on that foundation, his team developed and produced original primetime telenovelas for Telemundo, RCN, and Caracol, teen novelas for Nickelodeon and MTV and one hour dramas for Televisa. These efforts resulted in the annual creation of some 350 - 400 primetime episodes for commissioning broadcasters and SPT distribution. He complemented this strong organic growth by driving and managing key strategic investments in both Teleset, a thriving Colombian production company, and Floresta, a Brazilian JV start-up while also serving as a director of Sony production companies in Spain, Italy and Colombia. Now he is the Managing Director of his own company, Pomodoro Stories, LLC, a rapidly growing concern dedicated to scripted format remakes in the emerging markets of the Middle East, Turkey, Israel, Latin America and the US and Canadian Hispanic markets. In this new role, Brendan sources, develops and licenses scripts in a wide variety of genres from around the world, and, in partnership with Germany’s BetaFilm, offers co-production financing, pre-sales and worldwide distribution. Scripted Story Selling Pomodoro Stories, LLC specializes in the acquisition, representation and sale of scripted formats for emerging markets in North and South America, Turkey and the Middle East. In addition, we structure co-productions and pre-sales in Europe and in the Americas and offer worldwide distribution through Germany’s BetaFilm. Two thirds of our product mix is Latin American and Asian telenovela formats of 60, 120 or more episodes, with a growing part of the business composed of one hour scripted series from Israel and Europe. This offering is rounded out by a number of ½ hour sitcom formats from Israel, Latin America and the US, suitable for either weekly or daily airing. And finally, Pomodoro enjoys exclusive representation of the remake rights in BetaFilm’s extensive library of feature films, fiction series, mini series and TV movies for Turkey, the Middle East and Latin America.
