OUR COMPANY Industry visionary Dan Poag with then business partner Terry McEwen, founded the predecessor to Poag & McEwen Lifestyle Centers, LLC, over three decades ago with an innovative idea that transformed retail real estate. With his background in strip center development, Dan knew that shoppers enjoyed the convenience and safety of easily accessible stores. He took this concept to the next level by designing centers that offer national specialty stores, restaurants, superior architecture and landscaping, park-like gathering areas, and other amenities to create open-air environments that reflect the communities in which they are located. ALONG WITH FORMER BUSINESS PARTNER TERRY MCEWEN, DAN COINED THE TERM “LIFESTYLE CENTER” TO DESCRIBE WHAT IS NOW THE MOST IN-DEMAND RETAIL REAL ESTATE DESIGN. Bringing together the knowledge and experience of several members of Dan’s past teams under the leadership of President and Chief Executive Officer Joshua Poag, Poag Shopping Centers will focus on retail with lifestyle retailers as the basis of its developments, but the future lies in a mixing of uses. Projects will focus on the sites with the best demographics and the highest density of people, which inevitably will lead to adding additional uses, such as residential, office or hotels to the developments, in either a vertical or horizontal integration. In addition, Poag Shopping Centers will seek the best acquisitions, that will utilize our skills in leasing and development to maximize values for our partners.
