That culture of caring begins with the over 400 culturally diverse people who look after our residents, who think of them and treat them as members of their own family. From our CEO to our CNAs, we respect the fact that this is their home and we believe in doing whatever we can to make them happy, to respect them, to honor their dignity and to give their lives meaning. We’re proud of our colleagues and of Pines of Sarasota’s extraordinarily low turnover rate, a rate unparalleled in the healthcare field. People stay with us because they find the work they do rewarding, their workload reasonable and the pay and benefits we offer competitive. Among the more important benefits Pines of Sarasota provides is an on-going commitment to education, providing tuition for college and through department budgets the allocation of funds for specific training and technique certification, as well as conference attendance. We make a point of acknowledging a job well done with letters of commendation and gift cards. We hold frequent celebrations that help our colleagues bond and that foster mutual respect, which means more cooperation between colleagues. That translates into more coordinated care for our residents. Pines of Sarasota is always willing to consider individuals for positions who are passionate about the work they do, inspired by our mission and are dedicated to service to others. Pines of Sarasota Home is the place where family lives. Where we’re cared for and cared about; where our concerns are addressed and our needs are met; and where we share common values and work together to achieve common goals. Home is a place where we’re respected and, most importantly, loved. Pines of Sarasota is home to every resident and rehabilitation patient and every one of them is part of our family. To assure our family a meaningful quality of life, a sense of well-being and their well-deserved dignity, we provide an unparalleled level of rehabilitation services that offer hope and recovery; an assisted living environment that respects independence; long-term, compassionate skilled nursing care that provides assistance with the activities of daily living; and educational services for residential and at-home caregivers. Our vision is to continue to be the preeminent provider in the fields of rehabilitation, geriatric healthcare, education and support. Today, the not-for-profit Pines of Sarasota has grown into a 25-acre campus with 19 buildings, with capacity for 276 residents, and over 300 employees; and it continues to grow in order to provide a home to our ever-growing family. Pines of Sarasota is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, which oversees management and has ultimate fiduciary responsibility. This dedicated group of civic leaders serves with distinction but without recompense, following a 69-year tradition of service to both Pines of Sarasota and to the larger community it serves. PINES OF SARASOTA - BOARD OF DIRECTORS - 2017 Sarasota, FL – Pines of Sarasota is one of only 40 facilities that is a member of the Florida Health Care Association to recently earn national recognition for extraordinary commitment to delivering quality care to Florida’s frail elders. This honor is part of the prestigious National Quality Awards program conducted by the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). Pines of Sarasota is the recipient of the Florida’s 2014 Bronze Quality Award. Pines provides Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, Alzheimer’s/Dementia Care, Rehabilitation and Elder Care Education Services. “What is so impressive about this accomplishment is that Pines’ nursing, rehabilitation, and support staff has achieved this fantastic national recognition for superior quality of care in spite of the fact that they are serving the largest number of seniors in southwest Florida who have outlived their financial resources,” explains John Overton, President/CEO.   “Fact is, Pines is the largest provider of skilled nursing services in all of southwest Florida from Sarasota through Naples,” Overton continues. The Volunteer Program at Pines of Sarasota is proud that the training, encouragement and support given to Derek Levin led to his employment at Hyatt Regency Sarasota. Bobby Schiele, manager of the on-campus Thrift Shop, worked with Derek, bringing him gently along. Dr. Carol Chiodo, a Thrift Shop volunteer and a former special education teacher, directly oversaw Derek’s training and still works with him to this day when he needs help. “Derek has gained several skill sets that will not only aid him in a work environment, but at life in general,” explains Dr. Chiodo. “I am so proud of Derek. How exciting for this young man. When he came to us, he was painfully shy and he needed his mother to stay with him. Derek has blossomed into a productive young man,” states Ivy Ruark.“ Pines Volunteer Program has opportunities for child care, pet visits, event staffing, highschool volunteer programs, thrift shop and more.
