Established in 1972 by the visionary Colleen H. Boggs, Pine Island Nursery has grown from a humble family-owned farm into a cornerstone of Miami-Dade County's natural landscape. Nestled on fifty acres just twenty-five miles southwest of downtown Miami, this nursery is nestled in an authentic upland pine habitat that perfectly matches its name. Beyond being one of the last major privately-held forested areas in the county, it has been instrumental in revitalizing over 2,500 pine trees lost to Hurricane Andrew in '92, thanks to a community-driven reforestation initiative. Originally, Pine Island Nursery thrived as a wholesaler of rare palms and exotic indoor plants. Today, they've focused their energies on tropical fruit, nut, and spice trees-a dedication that serves commercial growers, landscapers, garden centers, and the casual gardener alike. While predominantly serving customers in Florida, their reach extends nationally through certified interstate shipping to all parts of the U.S. and Canada, besides maintaining a vibrant export footprint across the Caribbean, Latin America, and other international markets. The nursery's mission is straightforward yet profound: to deliver top-notch fruit trees with commercial potential around the globe while nurturing environments where these can thrive-even in suburban backyards.
