PIKE ASSOC. LLC, LAKELAND

Who We Are Pike Associates is a progressive government relations company, located two short blocks from the nation's Capitol. The firm was established by Jeffrey Pike, a Capitol Hill veteran with more than 35 years of experience working with Congress and the Executive branch of government. Our professional staff works as a team in providing services to our clients. In addition to direct client representation, Pike Associates also offers "retail" lobbying services on Capitol Hill for advocacy and issue campaigns. More and more single purpose coalitions and campaigns lack the experienced personnel needed to achieve success in Congress. Our experience in meeting with large numbers of congressional offices and gathering strategic intelligence has proven invaluable to our campaign and coalition clients. This service offers campaigns an efficient alternative to hiring full time employees. Our strategic network of relationships with like-minded professional lobbyists enables us to assemble a formidable team quickly. Pike Associates specializes in developing and implementing political, legislative, and administrative strategies. We offer government relations and lobbying services to those who share our commitment to the wise stewardship, sustainable use, and sound conservation of our planet's living marine resources. From multi-million dollar corporations to small fishing businesses and communities to labor unions and non-governmental organizations, we are dedicated to providing the same results-oriented professional services to all our clients, the kind of services that give lobbying a The roots of our firm can be traced back to 1979, when Jeffrey Pike began working for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Merchant Marine and Fisheries and rose to Chief of Staff in 1992. Established in 1887, the Committee had broad jurisdiction and a reputation of bipartisanship, leading to an effectiveness unparalleled in the Congress. The Committee was responsible for over 180 federal laws including: the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Water Act, the U.S. Coast Guard , the Marine Mammal Protection Act, the Merchant Marine Act, the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, the Oil Pollution Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the Ocean Dumping Act, the Clean Water Act, Ports and Waterways Safety Act, Shipping Acts of 1916 and 1984, National Marine Sanctuaries Act, International Fisheries Agreements, the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, Coastal Zone Management Act, and numerous other fisheries, wildlife, ocean and coastal environmental protection laws. When Pike Associates was established in 2009, we continued to build on our work in most of the same areas including fisheries and wildlife; oceans and marine policy; maritime transportation and navigation; port security and infrastructure; marine mammals and endangered species; national wildlife refuges; environmental policy, international fisheries agreements and international trade agreements. For more than 35 years, we have been deeply involved in the statutory and regulatory processes surrounding these issues. As you read more, we hope you will come to appreciate our level of engagement, dedication, and competence in the matters in which we have devoted our professional careers. Our engagement in environmental issues parallels our experience and knowledge of ocean issues. We've taken Alaskan crab fishermen to the White House and to Capitol Hill to convince Congress to protect Bristol Bay from oil and gas development. We were leaders in the successful 2007 campaign that led Congress to increase national fuel economy standards for the first time in decades. We secured millions of dollars in federal funding for exciting new oil spill prevention technologies. In the 113th Congress, we were selected to assemble and manage a multimillion-dollar campaign for U.S. ratification of the U.N Law of the Sea Treaty. In 2014, Pike Associates was hired by the Town of Chatham, Massachusetts to quarterback a team of experts working on the Comprehensive Conservation Plan (CCP) for the Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge. From endangered species and biodiversity to clean water and clean air, we have worked to develop practical opportunities and solutions for protecting and improving our living environment.    Nevertheless, our work doesn't stop at the ocean's edge! Together with international conservation organizations, we have fought to end the illegal trade in wildlife, especially the international trade in ivory that has devastating impacts on African and Asian elephant populations. Working with clients and officials from the Kenyan Wildlife Service, we have assisted in expanding critical habitat for African wildlife and educated Congress on the importance of ecological corridors to allow that wildlife to prosper. We have also helped secure U.S. funds for anti-poaching efforts to protect tigers in India, and we have fought to end hunting and the illegal trade in bush meat, which threatens the survival of the remaining wild chimpanzees and gorillas. Our involvement in fisheries started in 1968, when Jeff first crewed on a commercial fishing vessel out of Chatham, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. As a former crew member, captain and boat owner, Jeff brought a unique perspective to fisheries issues and legislation while serving as a fisheries advisor in the United States Congress. From highly migratory Bluefin tuna to Bering Sea Pollock, Jeff has worked with virtually every domestic fishery over the past 35 years. Because of this experience, he was appointed to the Secretary of Commerce's Marine Fisheries Advisory Committee during the Clinton Administration. Pike Associates currently assists fishermen, fish companies and fishing communities engaged in a wide variety of species including New England groundfish, lobster, herring, ocean quahogs, salmon, sea scallops, red snapper, Alaskan halibut, and many species of tuna. In that capacity, we work with most of the regional fishery management councils established under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act. We are also proud of our involvement in establishing the first New England limited access "sector" or fishermen's cooperative for small family fishing businesses on Cape Cod.
