Elissa Margulies knows hats – in fact, she’s famous for them. In the late 1980’s, she and newly-wed husband Michael Ross founded Forget Me Not, a hat manufacturing company that tapped into the Junior’s fashion market with force. Picked-up by major retailers such as Contempo Casuals, Margulies’ creations caught the eye of several top stylists and soon after, Forget Me Not hats became a trademark of the hit television show Blossom, a fashion icon for teens in the early 1990’s. Forget Me Not styles became top-trends of their time, and the company expanded, retailing in national catalogs and department stores, such as Macy’s and Bloomingdales. In 2000, Margulies and Ross sold the company and took up a life-long dream of traveling around the world. However, Margulies’ designer instincts followed her as she discovered that while enjoying an active lifestyle of hiking, biking and exploring new places, she could not find a hat that offered maximum protection from the sun while still maintaining a sense of style. There was no fashionable, but practical product available on the market that could go from hiking to shopping, to poolside at a destination resort. After researching the Health & Wellness industry and appropriate textiles to use, Margulies and Ross co-founded Physician Endorsed in 2002. Headquartered in sunny Florida, Margulies took on her role as the creative force behind the brand, and they began producing a dynamic line of hats and other fashion accessories designed specifically for a combination of health, wellness and style.
