Welcome to PhreshStudios. We are a small music company with big dreams and huge aspirations! We write and produce both music and artists of various genres capturing the very essence of creativity, emotion, imagery, concept, and uniqueness. Our company operates under different entities; DBA (Doing Business As), PhreshStudios, AKJ Productions, and DAS Records, ALL of which fall under the parent company Phresh Publishing, LLC . Although Phresh Publishing, LLC wasn’t established until 2010, we have endeavored under the aforementioned entities since 1996, and our growth has been steady. In the grand scheme of things Phresh Publishing, LLC covers a lot of ground with regard to the music industry and the business scene behind it. As a publishing company there isn’t an artist we can’t produce and publish. We have also engrossed ourselves in the jingle business. At our studio we provide the best in digital recording, mixing and editing, ADR, VoiceOvers, music production (pre and post), video production (pre and post), and we use the best industry standard DAW software to get the job done right! Aaron “Phresh” Johns, is a seasoned and respected musician who stepped out into the limelight as a drummer/vocalist in 1981. Having played various types of music, he’s played in bands ranging from funk and R&B to smooth Jazz, Hard Rock, and Gospel. He has worked with and opened for many successful national musicians and bands as well; the likes of Parliament Funkadelic, Pebo Bryson, K C and the Sunshine Band, Anthrax, 38 Special, The Clark Sisters, Mighty Clouds of Joy, Commissioned, and the Backstreet Boys. The foundation was laid for Phresh’s career during his childhood, growing up in a musical household in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His father and mother were musicians and sang and played in bands and clubs. His aunts and uncles were also very talented musicians. Phresh recalls, hearing bands/groups that lived next door, across the street, around the corner, or just a few blocks away from where he lived. The Delphonics, Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes featuring Teddy Pendergrass, The Stylistics, and the Spinners to name a few were all neighboring inspirations. Growing up hearing the great Philly Soul sounds produced by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff was definitely that fuel needed to ignite that fire in Phresh. By age five he started playing drums and singing. He continued to perfect his craft by playing in local bands and even starting a few bands of his own. Kool and the Gang’s “Hollywood Swingers” and New Birth’s “Been Such a Long Time” were just a couple of songs that helped mold and develop that soulful style of playing he has. Phresh was influenced by numerous artists over the years, and that helped him become a well rounded musician. With the exception of some music theory while in a community college, he is self-taught. He still endeavors to learn more about drumming and singing, as well as playing other instruments; keyboards and saxophone. He is also a songwriter. He has written and produced his first CD (“Don’t Play Me”), and now endeavors to write and record his second and third. He has also done some studio recordings for other artists.
