The Pet Professional Guild (PPG) was established in early 2012 with a steadfast commitment to providing educational resources for pet care providers and the public. It emphasizes collaboration among force-free pet trainers, pet care professionals, and advocates, adhering to mutually agreed-upon guiding principles for improving animal welfare. PPG's core emphasis remains on ensuring each pet’s physical, mental, environmental, and nutritional well-being through a holistic approach. Niki Tudge founded the PPG in response to the insufficient availability of force-free training resources and methodologies that were scientifically supported, aiming to offer an educational counterbalance against the prevailing practices popularized by entertainment TV. The organization serves as a reliable resource for pet owners and professionals devoted exclusively to non-coercive training techniques and care approaches. Growth and direction within PPG are steered by an expert committee, with contributions from various councils composed of pet industry veterans. Special volunteer groups work towards strategic objectives and advocacy for the principles of force-free pet training. The Guild also functions as a 501(c)(6) nonprofit association that supports small businesses in advancing their field. PPG has forged a notable partnership with Pat Miller, an acclaimed dog trainer and author known for her positive, scientifically-sourced methods. This collaboration underscores PPG's dedication to advocating force-free training globally within the unregulated pet industry sector. Additionally, PPG operates under strict structural guidelines as per Florida state requirements, ensuring its corporate activities are aligned with legal standards. It is headquartered in Lecanto, Citrus County, FL, and maintains transparency by filing annual reports and adhering to all mandated business practices.
