Anthony Young graduated from Pratt Institute and holds a B. A. degree in Industrial Design. He has worked for both small design firms and Fortune 500 companies in the design and engineering of complex electronic and mechanical systems. He has spent more than two decades working in aerospace industries supporting projects for Boeing, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, B/E Aerospace and Jet Aviation, among others. Young’s first book published by Springer in 2007, Lunar and Planetary Rovers – The Wheels of Apollo and the Quest for Mars, is the definitive history of the amazing lunar rover used by the Apollo 15, 16 and 17 astronauts on their exploratory mission on the Moon. The Foreword was written by Col. David R. Scott, Commander of Apollo 15. Young was invited by NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Ohio to give a presentation based on this book. The Twenty-First Century Commercial Space Imperative, Young’s most recent title, was published in 2015 as part of the Springer Briefs in Space Development series. It outlines the commercial space sectors and covers emerging markets in launch vehicles such as the Space-X Falcon 9, commercial launch providers such as Orbital Sciences and United Launch Alliance, personal spaceflight companies like World View, Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic, and new satellite builders like Planet Labs. The book also covers NASA’s Commercial Crew and Cargo program. This book distinguishes Mr. Young as a thought leader in the field of commercial space business.
